The number of TV and film streaming services — many of which have millions of downloads — can be dizzying.

It can be hard to keep up with who has what and how much each service costs. One bit of calm in the storm, at least, are the services you can get for free.

One of the biggest services people might not realize is available for free is Peacock, owned by Comcast’s NBCUniversal. Following are a handful of ways you can access this popular service without paying.

Peacock versus Peacock Premium

Anyone can enjoy Peacock’s free plan, which grants access to “thousands of hours of movies and TV shows — plus sports, news and pop culture.”

It’s not a gimmicky free trial or anything. You don’t even need a credit card on file. Just make a free account and start watching.

The catch, if you can call it that, is that you don’t get access to everything Peacock has to offer. You may not be able to immediately watch entire seasons, original series or live sports.

For that, you’ll need Peacock Premium, which typically starts at $4.99 per month. There’s also an ad-free plan, Peacock Premium Plus, for $9.99 per month. Paying for an annual plan will save you about two months’ worth of fees.

But you might already have free access to Peacock Premium, too. Read on for how.

Sure, Comcast — which does business as Xfinity — throws in its Peacock streaming service for free to its cable customers. But it also does that for other cable companies!

If you have a Cox Essential or higher video package from Cox Communications that includes the NBC broadcast channel, you get Peacock Premium for free. If you have Cox Internet, you may be eligible for “a limited-time preview.”
