March:
Start with Human Rights Day on Friday, 21 March. By taking just one extra leave day on Monday, 24 March, you can enjoy a lovely four-day weekend. It’s the perfect opportunity for a quick getaway or some much-needed relaxation at home.
April:
Next up is Easter, and this one’s a game-changer. With Good Friday on 18 April and Family Day on 21 April, you can take four leave days (22–25 April) and score an incredible 11-day holiday. Whether you want to travel, catch up on hobbies, or spend time with family, this nearly 2 week break has you covered.
June:
In June, Youth Day falls on Monday, 16 June, giving you the chance to stretch it into a six-day escape. By taking leave before on the Thursday and Friday on 12, 13, and then on Tuesday 17 June, you can enjoy an extended break before winter fully sets in.
September:
Need a proper getaway? Heritage Day delivers! The public holiday on Wednesday, 24 September, can be turned into an eight-day holiday break if you take off the Thursday and Friday. That results in a break from 17 to 23 September.
December:
Finally, let’s talk about the festive season. You may just have just had an end of year break but remember how tired you were when December rolled around this year.
By using seven leave days (15–24 December), you can create a massive 16-day holiday!
Finish up work on Friday the 12th and say bye to your workmates. Start your break on the Saturday, 13th December, and enjoy uninterrupted downtime all the way through Monday, 29 December.
A lot of firms, kind of, force you to take a break at the end of the year anyway but if not, you can get ahead of the curve by putting in your leave slip now. And if they make you come back to work right at the very end of the year you will be super relaxed (and things could be super quiet meaning another holiday at the office till New Year’s Day).
