Social media is complicated. It’s a business, an art form, a way of connecting with others. Personally, I don’t like most social media platforms, although I use some of them for work. I do, however, like Instagram. I fill my feed only with accounts that inspire me, make me smile, and encourage me. Then I try to limit my use but turn to it when I need that lift. Mostly, honestly, I follow accounts of cute dogs and beautiful DIY crafts. But, there are some great personal finance and money Instagrammers to follow if you’re seeking that kind of inspiration. Here are some I like.
1. @myfabfinance
Entrepreneur Tonya Rapley has a great inspirational business account. She’s the founder of My Fab Finance where “we help you to do things with your money that you’re proud of.” Her account is filled with eels and inspirational posts that will provide you with a ton of information about money management given to you in digestible chunks.
2. @planetmoney
You might know about NPR’s Planet Money podcast. This is the Instagram account related to that. It tells you in brief about stuff that’s on the show. If you don’t have a chance, or an interest, in keeping up with the show day to day, then this can be a great way to learn the useful things they’re offering there. When you see a post you like, you can always check out the longer version.
3. @themoney_queen
Do you believe in manifesting money through the right mindset? Then this female-focused Instagram account should inspire you. It’s a well-curated account filled with quick affirmations. It can help infuse your Instagram feed with positivity. While sometimes there are videos and reels, this is mostly a “quick reminders” account to boost the beauty of your scrolling.
4. @moneybossmama
Dyana can “help you achieve more spending freedom by controlling your spending, paying off debt and building your savings.” If you want tips, practical advice, and reminders about these key areas of saving money, then you’ll find those here. This one is rich in reels.
5. @financiallifocused
Alli Williams (hence the play on words: financialli) can “help you ditch financial stress, build wealth, and live your dream life.” Her account has lots of different types of posts but my favorites are the informational slides. For example, a set of slides defines medical insurance terms.
She provides useful, practical information on things like 529 plans, how to financially prepare for a baby, and avoiding burnout. There’s not a lot of fluff here as compared to most Instagram accounts. It’s helpful stuff.
6. @moneymag
If you’re looking for useful Instagram content that will lead you to more in-depth articles on financial topics, then @moneymag is a good place to start. The look of their posts is consistent, so you’ll always know it’s them when you scroll. Stop the scroll, see if the post is about a financial topic that you want to learn about, then click through the bio links. Note, however, that the succinct information even within the post itself is often helpful!
