AFL-CIO President Richard Tumka died Thursday on the age of 72.
Trumka had served as president of the 12.5 million-member labor federation since 2009.
Trumka grew up in Nemacolin, Pennsylvania, and as a school and regulation faculty scholar labored a a coal miner, simply as his father and grandfather had accomplished.
At 33 years previous, he ran on a reform ticket for the presidency of the United Mine Staff of America, and was elected as its youngest chief ever in 1982.
