The 15 Cars Most Likely to Last 200,000 Miles

If you are looking for a car that will last 200,000 miles or more, Toyota is the brand to buy.

That is the obvious conclusion after the automaker’s models dominated iSeeCars’ 2022 ranking of the vehicles that most commonly reach 200,000 miles.

Toyota models took the top two slots, and comprise half of the 15 vehicles that made iSeeCars’ latest list.

Just 1.2% of all vehicles last at least 200,000 miles, on average. But all the 15 models on the iSeeCars list had from 3.2% to 18.2% of their cars last at least that long. The models on the list are:

  • Toyota Land Cruiser: 18.2% of vehicles reach 200,000 miles
  • Toyota Sequoia: 14.2%
  • Chevrolet Suburban: 6.6%
  • GMC Yukon XL: 5.2%
  • Toyota 4Runner: 4.6%
  • Ford Expedition: 4.5%
  • Chevrolet Tahoe: 4.4%
  • Toyota Tundra: 4.0%
  • Toyota Avalon: 3.9%
  • Toyota Prius: 3.9%
  • Toyota Highlander Hybrid 3.8%
  • GMC Yukon: 3.7%
  • Honda Ridgeline: 3.7%
  • Honda Odyssey: 3.2%
  • Toyota Sienna: 3.2%

SUVs make up much of the list, with just one sedan — the Toyota Avalon — cracking the top 15.

In compiling its list, iSeeCars looked at more than 14.9 million used cars sold in 2021.

The top two models — the Toyota Land Cruiser and the Toyota Sequoia — led all others by a large margin. Karl Brauer, iSeeCars executive analyst, says:

“The iconic and indestructible Toyota Land Cruiser is engineered to last at least 25 years, even under the harshest of driving conditions, as it is relied upon in many developing countries where off-road driving is the norm. And like the Land Cruiser, the truck-based Toyota Sequoia has the durability of a pickup chassis with three full rows of seating for up to eight passengers, making it a capable family hauler that endures demanding use while towing heavy loads.”

Overall, 2.3% of all Toyota models make it to the 200,000 mark, iSeeCars says. That also places Toyota first among automakers. Those whose vehicles most commonly last at least 200,000 are as follows:

  • Toyota: 2.3% of vehicles reach 200,000 miles
  • Honda: 1.9%
  • GMC: 1.8%
  • Chevrolet: 1.6%
  • Ford: 1.5%
