“I have zero ability to make a bed. It’s an impossible task for me.”

— Adam Geisler, CEO, Youth Athletes United

In her monthly “Grab Bag” column, Editor in Chief Laura Michaels asks the tough questions—What superhero power would you most like to have? What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?—to show a side of franchising execs you don’t normally see.

Who would play you in the biopic about your life?

I thought about Woody Harrelson. He can be hilarious; he can be serious. He’s a B-level athlete and I aspire to be a B-level athlete. C’mon, ‘White Men Can’t Jump’ is a classic. Plus, he was in ‘Cheers.’ He’s timeless, that’s what I love about him.

What’s your biggest pet peeve?

When people can’t see the positive in any situation, they’re always look at it glass half empty. For people on my team, in our business, sometimes it can be annoying, but I can always see the positive in just about anything. I think that positivity helps in a lot of business situations and it’s helped us get to where we are.

If you could be a member of any TV show family, which would it be?

I have a couple. One is ‘Seinfeld.’ I live on the Upper West Side of New York and I just love ‘Seinfeld.’ One of my favorite things is how you can always find a way to relate a situation back to the show. I would want to be Jerry’s brother. And a second would be ‘Shark Tank.’

What’s something you would seriously stockpile if you found out it wasn’t going to be sold anymore?

I love Hot Tamales, they’re my favorite candy in the world. I have no control whatsoever if I start eating them. If I go to a movie, it’s my No. 1 movie candy.

What chore do you absolutely hate doing?

I have zero ability to make a bed. It’s an impossible task for me. The throw pillows never sit right, the sheets are all twisted. … I just can’t do it.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?

Cricket protein. I had it in like a power bar form. I could just never get my head around it. It’s like you get that one crunch and you just know it’s a cricket.

What fictional character do you think would be most interesting to meet in real life?

I am a Marvel fanatic, and I like Thor. I think he’s the coolest. He’s funny, he’s indestructible—there’s nobody he won’t challenge.

Which time period in history would you want to visit?

I’ve always been fascinated by dinosaurs. So for me, it would be the prehistoric era, with the cavemen and dinosaurs. It would be so interesting to see what Earth was like before everything modern, before technology, cell phones, all of that.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Easy. I am a sucker for a good rom-com. It doesn’t matter how many times I’ve seen it, or that you know what’s going to happen. ‘Love Actually’ is the king of all rom-coms. It’ll get you every time.

What superhero power would you most like to have?

It would be time travel. The way I would use it is, I would go back one hour or maybe 24 hours because I feel like I always have something really perfect or great to say, but I don’t think of it in the moment. There’s this hilarious ‘SNL’ skit with Tom Hanks where he comes in 15 minutes late with the punchline. That’s how I feel.
