1000-Lb Sisters’ Amy Slaton Finally Reveals The Real Reason Behind Her Incredible Weight Loss In New Season

1000-Lb Sisters star Amy Slaton doesn’t think the real reason for her weight loss was her bariatric surgery. Amy and her sister Tammy Slaton are stars of the reality TV show which began documenting their journeys when their weights reached a combined 1000 plus pounds. Amy wished to do away with her health issues and become a mom, so she worked hard towards getting approved for gastric bypass surgery in 2019 through her doctor’s prescribed diet and exercise regimen. Amy was able to lose 136 pounds by sticking to her goals.

A preview clip for the new episode of 1000-Lb Sisters by ET has Amy visiting Dr. Eric Smith with her entire family, including Tammy, Chris Combs, Amanda Halterman, and Misty Slaton. Dr. Smith, who helped Tammy lose 420 pounds through diet, exercise, and bariatric surgery, tells Amy that he’s never seen him as a doctor before. Amy says she likes him as a person and adds that she appreciates him because he saved her family’s life. Amy was looking for a doctor she could get access to and also wanted to discuss her skin removal.

“Hell, all you need to lose weight is two toddlers and a divorce.”

A throwback clip from four years ago shows Amy being weighed on an industrial scale at a junkyard. It flashes Amy’s weight as 406 pounds, and she reveals she had last weighed herself a year ago. Amy had weighed 281 pounds when she met Dr. Proctor and hopes she’s lost more since then. She is surprised that she has dropped 44 pounds. Amy’s joke doesn’t fall flat because she has indeed gone through a lot in the past year or so amid her split from Michael Halterman and having to look after her sons. Amy and Michael separated less than four years after they married in 2019. It was Michael who filed for divorce in March 2023. Amy spoke about how Michael was not supportive and his lack of contribution as a husband and father led to their split. Amy expected Michael to show her love and kindness, especially after they had two kids. She even accused him of alleged mental abuse.
