If you are looking for career progression and your employer doesn’t offer you any career development, it’s a good reason to leave. But if you are the one in charge now, you need to make sure that you are making your employees as comfortable as possible when they’re working with you eight hours per day
When you are the employer, you have a constant influx of new employees and a revolving door of an onboarding process. You have to make sure that you have the right furniture, the right ergonomic desks, and the split system air conditioning systems that are going to keep people cool in the summer and warm in the winter. There’s a lot involved in making sure the other people are comfortable, and we’ve got some of the tips that you need to ensure that your employees don’t have any complaints
- Be clear with your communication. If you want to make your employees comfortable in your office, you need to make sure that you’re communicating effectively. If you are bringing in new furniture all you want to find out if the people that you’re working with are comfortable, you must ask. The chances are that you don’t know the ins and outs of how your employees are feeling because they’re not going to volunteer the information to you unless you ask. Define the standards in your office even down to things like the temperature, and make sure everybody is on the same page.
- Provide information. You should have an employee handbook on hand so that your employees know whether they are coming or going. People need to feel seen and heard, and if you have an employee handbook that informs everybody of the rules and regulations of your office, you’re really going to help them to be involved and feel comfortable and secure.
- Be patient. If you want your organization to come off as warm and welcoming, you need to have some patients and you need to be kind. Someone, please come into a new position, have a tough time getting adjusted, and you don’t have to make it worse for them. Make sure people feel physically comfortable in your office, and you will see the benefits right away.
- Utilize mentorship programs. The chances are that people in your office want to lean on others and get some help. You want to work as a team, and that means ensuring that you are all able to work together and people feel confident in their ability to do so. If you use a great mentorship program you are going to really help your employees come out of their shells.
