Early on in 2022, Altitude Trampoline Park, one of the world’s largest family entertainment brands, announced an assertive growth strategy aimed to expand the brand’s footprint nationwide.
Across the board in the franchise industry, multi-unit ownership has increased in the last decade, as multi-unit operators control more than half of the franchises in the United States. While growth with new qualified candidates certainly plays a key part in Altitude’s strategy, the brand has not lost focus on nurturing opportunities with existing franchise owners eager to expand their presence in new local markets.
Many of the family-fun entertainment park’s franchisees are looking to grow their portfolio by adding locations throughout their chosen market, expanding Altitude’s mission of active family fun to new communities throughout the U.S.
Three such operators are Ben Thomas, owner of Altitude Trampoline Park in Huntsville, Alabama, Grady Hinchman, owner of Altitude Trampoline Parks in Kissimmee and Sanford, Florida, and Tim Kurtz, a member of the Alpha Group, which owns several park locations in various Midwest communities.
Ben Thomas joined the franchise system in July of 2017, opening his first Altitude Trampoline Park in Huntsville, Alabama. Thomas has actively owned and operated the Huntsville location for more than five years, making the most of Altitude’s proven business model through the brand’s membership program, concessions and charitable giveback with local schools, churches and nonprofit organizations.
From there, he decided to focus his attention on developing more Altitude Trampoline Park locations, recently opening his second in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
“I choose Altitude because of its franchisee-friendly model, which provides greater flexibility and a lower cost structure,” said Thomas. “I like the overall trajectory and health of the brand. The leadership team recently added measures, like the membership program, to improve franchisee profitability.”
As the International Franchise Association’s (IFA) Franchisee of the Year, Grady Hinchman joined the Altitude franchise system in 2020 and quickly demonstrated his dedication to sharing the brand’s JumpLife!SM mantra with the Kissimmee, Florida community.
Hinchman has achieved success by taking full advantage of Altitude’s membership program, cresting well over 17,000 members in little over a year in business. He recently signed an agreement to acquire the brand’s location in Sanford, Florida and is currently developing his third location in Bradenton, which is expected to open in the summer of 2022.
“Since Altitude Kissimmee opened, our team has shown incredible drive to provide best-in-class service for our community and to uphold the values and vision of the Altitude Trampoline Park brand,” expressed Hinchman in recent press release announcing his award win at IFA.
Tim Kurtz and the Alpha Group opened their first location in Gastonia, North Carolina in 2018. After reviewing the space, the team felt that Altitude Trampoline Park was well positioned to create a great guest experience for a younger generation of kids. Before long, Kurtz and his partners opened five additional parks in Appleton, Wisconsin; Pueblo, Colorado; Lombard, Illinois; York, Pennsylvania; and Killeen, Texas.
Altitude’s continued franchise expansion targets markets throughout the country, with specific priority for new locations in secondary and tertiary markets in the Midwest, Great Plains and Southwestern sections of the nation. As the only active indoor entertainment park primarily focused on the 3- to 12-year-old age groups, Altitude embraces gravity-defying fun mixed with learning new skills, building confidence, and pushing oneself to exhilarating new heights.
