We talked with Jen Chaney, vice president of franchise development for Right at Home, to learn more about growth plans and the brand’s recipe for sustained success.
How would you describe the state of the Right at Home brand?
Chaney: Right at Home is dedicated to being so much more than a franchise company. We are the navigator of what comes next for seniors and adults with disabilities. Our mission has always been to improve the quality of life for those we serve. It’s always about the people we serve. Our dedicated local owners and their professional teams work tirelessly to care for clients—and it shows. Our growth, both footprint and revenue, did not skip a beat through COVID. I am incredibly excited about what the future holds for Right at Home!
Right at Home has repeatedly earned recognition for its caring culture and franchisee satisfaction. How have you maintained robust growth yet stayed close to your customers and franchisees?
Chaney: We are very much a forward-thinking, proactive company. Everything we do is data driven. We strive to be prepared for what is coming, well before it gets here. Our franchisees are no 1. Everyone here at the home office knows that supporting, training, educating, informing, assisting, and caring for our franchise owners is top of mind at all times. Without happy, thriving, growing, and dedicated franchise owners, you don’t have much of a brand or a system. Thriving franchise systems/owners and growth go hand-in-hand. You don’t have one without the other.
Where do you look to expand your footprint?
Chaney: With over 500 territories sold here in the United States, along with over 150 more sold in other parts of the world, we still have well over 350 U.S. territories open and available for franchise ownership. How do you describe the ideal Right at Home franchisee?
Chaney: We seek individuals who want to make a difference in others’ lives. You have to have a passion for caring for others, and this is not inclusive to just caring for your clients needing care. Being a Right at Home business owner, caring for your staff and caregivers is just as important as caring for your clients. Possessing that ‘compelling reason’ is something that is a deal-breaker when it comes to people seeking franchise ownership with Right at Home. We call this Success With Significance®.
Right at Home is filled with franchise owners that have found their purpose. How does a vibrant base of happy franchisees impact the system as a whole?
Chaney: The result is a system full of very tenured owners who stick with their business for a long time. Not only that, it’s a business that can be passed along to a family member once the owner is ready to retire. We have many owners that have family-owned and run businesses. This speaks volumes about our business model. Not only that, but we also have several owners who pass along their business to a trusted, tenured employee. We love stories like this, and we have plenty of them to tell—our system is full of them!
