When the Debt-Free Journey is Long

Sometimes the debt-free journey is long.

In fact, many times it’s long. And while no one wants to hear that it can take years (or even decades) to get out of debt, sometimes it’s better to hear the truth.

It’s better to know that good things take time. And that it is WORTH IT!

That you’re not a failure if you didn’t pay off your student loan in 30 days. Or go from broke to millionaire overnight.

Or what have you.

What You Are When the Debt-Free Journey is Long

Do you know what you are when the debt-free journey is long and filled with twist, turns, setbacks, and successes?

You’re normal.

Well, you’re normal in the people-who-really-do-get-out-of-debt world.

You’re not normal in the sense that most people aren’t even trying to get out of debt for good.

And either way, that’s something to be proud of.

You are doing something that can change your life for the better.

So Be Proud of Yourself

Be proud of yourself for trying.

For not giving up.

For sticking with it through hard times and harder.

Through good times and bad.

For getting back up again when you feel like you’re never going to get ahead and all you want to do is cry.

For celebrating every little bit of success along the way. And for seeing your progress over the long haul.

For sticking with it even when it feels like life is testing you every step of the way.

(“Do you really want to do this? Do you? Huh huh?”. Yes, you do, and you’ll show those debts eventually.)

For forgiving yourself when you borrow money out of frustration or desperation. And getting back to chipping away at it anyway, instead of throwing up your hands and giving up.

Because You ARE Making Progress

Most people never even dream of getting out of debt.

They just go through life thinking that paying massive amounts of interest and robbing Peter to pay Paul is just how it is. That the sleepless nights, stress, and worry are just things to live with.

But you’re different.

You ARE dealing with it. By doing what you can, a little bit every day.

By not giving up.

Because you want a better life.

And I’m here to tell you that it is worth it. 100% worth it.

One day, I want to hear your story.
