Kingston BETA event tickets sold out in less than 24hrs, but… | Silicon Caribe

Tickets to The next Kingston BETA event to be held on Wednesday, July 27th, 2022 in Kingston, Jamaica were sold out in less than 24hrs with a long waiting list. It’s the first event since Ingrid Riley, Founder of SiliconCaribe relaunched the 15-year-old iconic tech and startup community event series and handed over the curation of meetups, hackathons, and workshops to the community member Jermaine Henry, CEO of Norus Tech.

“It is clear that the excitement and hunger for it,” Jermaine Henry, CEO of Norus Tech, the newly selected head curator of what is still the Caribbean’s first and longest-running tech and startup community event.

Kingston BETA ran for 11 straight years in Jamaica and also had a massive Caribbean impact as Caribbean startups from the Region and Diaspora would attend and pitch their ideas online. It spawned over 300 events across 10 Caribbean countries and Diaspora US, UK, and Canada, directly inspiring and facilitating over 100,000 entrepreneurs. The event series was paused on June 28th, 2018 as Founder Ingrid Riley took a sabbatical before returning.

“It’s great to see that after a 4-year hiatus Kingston BETA being back is like it never left and the return is welcomed and being lauded in Jamaica, the Caribbean, and Diaspora,” Ingrid Riley said.

As SiliconCaribe and Kingston BETA marks 15 years in the Jamaican and Caribbean Tech Ecosystem the mission remains:

To amplify the people, ideas, and businesses driving the rise of the Caribbean Digital Economy and to educate and inspire the next generation of Caribbean entrepreneurs and innovators.

To Change and amplify the narrative about the Caribbean, that’s Beyond the Beach that’s Going Digital and Innovating in Fresh Ways.

It’s great to see sponsors such as VM Wealth Management and iCreate on board in supporting the growth. We look forward to having more Caribbean and Global companies.
