$12.8M Maui Estate Seen on ‘Temptation Island’ Desires an Offer

Known to Maui locals as Lona Ridge, this nearly 6-acre estate in Wailuku, HI, features a marvelous mansion that appeared on the reality TV show “Temptation Island.” And now, it’s hoping to tempt a buyer for $12,800,000.

The property is perched 1,200 feet above sea level, against a backdrop of the West Maui Mountains.

“There isn’t another property like this anywhere on the island where it sits high on the hill,” says listing agent Josh Jerman, of Hawaii Life. “It looks out to both the north and the south shorelines.”

The homeowner worked with Nishikawa Architects to build the five-bedroom, 5.5-bath home in 2012. Sadly, the homeowner’s husband died before they moved in.

In the decade since, the homeowner has opened the home for numerous events, including corporate holiday parties, fundraisers, luncheons, farm tours, and school visits.

“The owner has viewed this property as an integral part of the community,” Jerman says, “and [often] invited schoolchildren to tour it and have lunch.”

She’s now ready to downsize.

Camera-ready home

The picturesque property has appeared in the 2019 season of reality TV show “Temptation Island” and the 2020 movie “Aloha Surf Hotel.”

“There’s an events coordinator tied to the property who would like to continue this with the next owner,” says Jerman. “There’s not a requirement to continue this [hospitality business], but it’s an option.”

The property comes with honey-producing beehives and fruit orchards, including bananas, limes, grapefruit, and papayas. The gardens feature native plants, and turkeys, peacocks, and ducks roam the land.

Beautiful views

A magnificent feature of this house is the jaw-dropping views from either floor, Jerman notes.

On the first level, the primary suite and the guest suite are on opposite sides. The second level features three en suite bedrooms.

There are three dining areas: two indoors and one outdoors. Two living rooms allow plenty of space to entertain. There is also an outdoor pool.

The property is close to the airport and shops such as Whole Foods and Costco.

Who will buy this? “It’s been those [buyers] looking for a one-of-a-kind property where there’s a significant amount of privacy, and oceanfront and mountain views are of paramount importance,” Jerman says. “Many of the people looking at this property have been considering having a part-time residence here, as opposed to a vacation home.”
