JSE-listed retail giant Woolworths has partnered with logistics company Pargo in a bid to strengthen its online delivery network.
The partnership is anticipated to provide customers with more choice and convenience when shopping online.
In a statement, the retailer notes that customers will be able to shop its full fashion, beauty and homeware range online, now with the option to collect their orders at Pargo click-and-collect pickup points.
The service will initially be piloted in the Western Cape, which has over 250 Pargo pickup locations. The service will only be available on its website during the pilot.
Woolies says after customers place their orders online and choose their preferred pickup point, they will receive an email notification with a five-digit code which they will use to retrieve the parcel, along with their ID.
It says customers will have eight days to collect their parcels from their chosen pickup location.
“We realise that some of our customers are not always available to receive parcels delivered to them,” says Liz Hillock, director of online and mobile at Woolworths.
“Parcel pick up will not only bolster our omnichannel value proposition, but it will further provide our customers with convenient solutions that suit their individual lifestyle. This partnership will now allow us to offer another reliable delivery option to our growing click-and-collect customer base.”
Pargo’s head of inside sales and client success, Adam Sack, says the partnership has come a long way. “We look forward to working with Woolies in taking their online customer shopping experience to the next level …” he adds.
The retail giant plans to add in-store collection points via its Woolies app in 2023.
