Newly formed 3B Lodge purchased five Twin Peaks locations in Kansas City and Wichita from an existing franchisee, PB&J Restaurants.
“We look forward to having the 3B team, just to add to that with some of their expertise and bring some local flair from Wichita, Kansas, into those Twin Peaks lodges,” Twin Peaks CEO Joe Hummel said.
The new Twin Peaks franchisee group comprises brothers Brad and Brent Steven as well as Brian Carduff. Brad and Brent Steven own Steven Hospitality Group, a Wichita-based firm that owns a few restaurants in Kansas, including Wine Dive and Kitchen as well as Vora Restaurant European.
Carduff is a good friend of the brothers, so the 3B group formed naturally. “He’s really good at financials, and it’s definitely a big bonus to have him with us,” Brent Steven said.
Brent Steven serves as CEO, Brad Steven is chief operating officer and Carduff is chief financial officer.
The group is just starting out, so the three want to take things slowly in regards to improvements. “We want to focus on food quality, cleanliness, guest experiences, improving little things here and there,” Brad Steven said. “Longer term, we want to do more upgraded facilities.”
Twin Peaks liked 3B’s local ties to the Wichita area. Hummel sees the acquisition as a stepping stone to expanding within the Midwest. “The Midwest is a very important position of the country for us to open up to the west and up to the north,” Hummel said.
Twin Peaks’ systemwide sales hit $388 million in 2021. The brand ranked No. 192 on the Franchise Times Top 500 list. The investment required to open a Twin Peaks franchise ranges from $1.65 million to $4.5 million.
Twin Peaks plans to open 18 new restaurants this year, and the brand is expanding in international markets as well. Twin Peaks now has four locations open in Mexico, with another three or four on the way, Hummel said.
“The brand is going to continue to flourish and do the things we’ve done in the past, and make them better every year and attract people like Brian and Brent and Brad to be a part of the buffalo plaid family to continue to grow our brand,” Hummel said.
