My Salon Suites to Convert 6 Stores, Plus More Bold Deals | Franchise Mergers and Acquisitions



My Salon Suites acquired six Sierra Salon Suites in Reno, Nevada. The acquisition increases the brand’s unit count to more than 280 locations across North America and marks its entry into the Reno market. Sierra Salon Suites and its six locations in northern Nevada merged with My Salon Suite in September and will rebrand as My Salon Suite corporate units. The purchase is part of the company’s broader growth strategy that includes adding corporate units, of which it now has 35. Based in Kenner, Louisiana-based My Salon Suite is part of Suite Management Franchising, also the parent company of Salon Plaza. 

Four Mr. Gatti’s Pizza locations in Kentucky and Indiana have new owners: Ray Davis and Mark Tabler in Ashland, Kentucky; Eric and Marsha Warren in Corbin, Kentucky; Stacy and Charlotte Willis in Elizabethtown, Kentucky; and Kirk Jefferies in Evansville, Indiana. Outgoing owners Dan Pyles and Rocky Gibbs of Ashland; Deb Slone, Connie Irick and Leilani Wright of Corbin; Woody Neel of Elizabethtown, and John Zeidler of Evansville are retiring. Based in Fort Worth, Texas, Mr. Gatti’s Pizza has nearly 80 restaurants open throughout Texas and southeastern U.S. 

Sylvan Learning Centers sold two territories in Bulverde and San Antonio, Texas, to Joan Lovin, an existing franchisee with four other territories in Texas. Lovin will assume ownership of two existing centers and open another within the two territories. With more than 710 locations worldwide, Baltimore-based Sylvan is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Franchise Group.

The Halifax Group, a middle market private equity firm, agreed to acquire the Worldwide Home Care division of Sodexo, which includes the franchise Comfort Keepers. Worldwide Home Care includes Sodexo’s home care subsidiaries in the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Brazil. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2023 and is subject to closing conditions. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Worldwide Home Care Division CEO Natalie Black will remain at the company along with the senior management team. Headquartered in Irvine, California, the company operates as a franchisor in the U.S. in the non-medical personal care sector with 535 franchised territories and 105 company-owned territories. 

Private equity firm VMG Partners is investing in a 16-unit Crunch franchisee, Undefeated Tribe. Undefeated Tribe operates Crunch gyms across Texas and Oklahoma, with plans to expand in San Antonio this year. This VMG partnership is meant to drive growth for Undefeated, aiming for 50 stores by 2025. Tony Hartl founded Undefeated Tribe in 2018 and is one of the fastest growing franchisees in the Crunch system. 

Crunch has more than 450 gyms open worldwide, with commitments signed for an additional 1,000 locations. The franchise fosters a welcoming environment for people of all levels and with all sorts of fitness goals. The New York City-based brand has international locations in countries such as Costa Rica, Portugal and Spain, in addition to the gyms open in 40 U.S. states.

Long Beach, California-based Re/Max Proper acquired Rancho Cucamonga-based independent brokerage All Nations Realty and Investments. The deal doubles Re/Max Proper’s footprint from 101 agents and staff to more than 200. The acquisition closed on August 30 for an undisclosed amount. All Nations Realty and Investments opened in 2004 under Richard and Nova Dahler. 

KKP Moncton in New Brunswick, Canada, has transitioned to the Allegra Marketing Print Mail brand with Terry Tingley and Allan Lee remaining the owners of the location. Plymouth, Michigan-based Allegra has more than 200 locations in the United States and Canada.

AlphaGraphic has a new owner in San Marcos, California with Min Egidio taking over the business from previous owner Gary Treiber. Egidio also owns All Time Awards in the San Diego area. Founded in 1970 and offering franchise opportunities in 1979, Lakewood, Colorado-based AlphaGraphics has more than 285 locations in six countries

Tint World Automotive Styling Centers has new ownership at its Charlotte-Matthews location in North Carolina, as franchisees Zach Cohen and Zach Nussbaum purchase a second store in the Charlotte area. Tint World Charlotte-Matthews serves the Matthews, Rock Hill, Harrisburg, Concord, Pineville, Monroe, Indian Trail and Weddington market. Tint World, founded in 1982, is an automotive accessories and window tinting franchise that offers window tinting, vehicle wraps, protective films, security systems, wheels and tires, detailing and ceramic coating services.

The Hut American Group, a subsidiary of Flynn Restaurant Group, purchased 11 Pizza Huts in Texas and New Mexico. Hut American Group is the largest Pizza Hut franchisee, operating 941 restaurants across 27 states. Flynn Restaurant Group, which operates 441 Applebee’s, 130 Paneras, 369 Arby’s, 192 Wendy’s and now more than 950 Pizza Hut stores, is the largest restaurant franchisee in the United States.
