Sharesight Complaints and Negative Ratings

Before I get into all of the details of what users like about Sharesight, I’d like to address some complaints. Here are a couple that I believe should be highlighted:

Desktop excellent, Mobile Useless

Desktop version is excellent; mobile app is pointless.

Have continued to give feedback to sharesight that they really need to spend a bit more time on mobile (as this is where most would review their portfolio on the go), but feedback goes into a black hole

Date of experience: August 22, 2022

I choose to include this negative review because potential users should be aware that the mobile app isn’t as robust as the desktop platform, so you should use the desktop version for in-depth research and the mobile app for quick looks on the go.

RESPONSE TIME NOT ACCEPTABLE: My subscription promises me quick…

My subscription promises me quick answers when I send a request, but the wait time is woefully long.

Date of experience: February 27, 2023

This is a common theme I found in the Sharesight complaints and negative ratings. Many users commented that the customer service is a bit slow to respond. Hopefully this is something Sharesight will improve on over time. I must note that subscribers that choose the expert plan, receive priority customer support. It is possible that these negative reviewers had the free plan, which only comes with “basic customer support”.

If you wish to dive deeper into what users are saying, you can consider looking at Sharesight Reddit reviews. Although I must warn you, there is a lot to comb through and a wide variety of opinions. With so many differing opinions, it was hard for me to come to any conclusions.

Sharesight Pricing

Sharesight offers a range of subscription plans to cater to different needs, including a free plan and three paid tiers: Starter, Investor, and Expert.

The free plan is limited to one portfolio with a maximum of 10 holdings, providing basic features such as automatic dividend tracking, trade importing via email forwarding, and basic customer support.

The Starter plan, priced at $15 per month (or $11.25 when billed annually), allows for one portfolio with up to 30 holdings and includes benchmarking, the option to store and attach files, and standard customer support.

The Investor plan, at $24 monthly or $18 per month annually, expands the offering to four portfolios with unlimited holdings and up to five custom groups. It includes future income reports, diversity reports, contribution analysis, integration with cash accounts, and Xero accounting software.

Finally, the Expert plan, costing $31 per month or $23.25 per month with annual billing, provides the most comprehensive features. It allows for 10 portfolios with unlimited holdings, up to 10 custom groups, multi-period reports, multi-currency valuation, and priority customer support.

Each tier enhances the number of portfolios, holdings, and custom groups available, along with the complexity and depth of reporting and support.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, it’s clear to me that Sharesight is a versatile and comprehensive portfolio tracking tool, suitable for investors juggling multiple accounts and asset classes. Its ability to integrate with a wide range of financial institutions and provide detailed analytics, dividend tracking, and tax reporting makes it an appealing choice for both novice and experienced investors.

However, as with any service, it is crucial to weigh the Sharesight complaints and negative ratings alongside its benefits to get a balanced view. Sharesight’s tiered pricing system caters to varying levels of investment involvement, from casual investors to those requiring more advanced features.

The platform’s global reach, with support for multiple currencies, enhances its usability for a diverse user base. Ultimately, Sharesight could be an invaluable asset for those seeking a centralized, insightful view of their investments.
