How To Get Star-Lined Sword In Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree

The Star-Lined Sword is one of many new weapons and items added in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC in Elden Ring. The Star-Lined Sword is a gorgeous, incredibly aesthetic weapon that even players for whom it does not fit into their build might want to have just for the looks. It is an excellent weapon in the hands of those it does scale for, and players will want to know where to get their hands on it.

Weapons in Elden Ring‘s DLC are many and varied, and while some choose to pick one and stick to it for most of the game, the new DLC provides a reason to want to try out new things. The map has expanded and it is a great time to test out a weapon you could not have before. Fortunately, the Star-Lined Sword can be found early and become your primary weapon for the rest of the DLC.

Finding The Star-Lined Sword

Hidden Location

One of the first places you can walk to on the new Shadow Realm’s map in Elden Ring is the Three-Path Cross Site of Grace. Start there and begin heading toward the Ellac Greatbridge, which is northeast of the Site of Grace. From there, the directions get a little more complicated, and if you want a visual representation, RageGamingVideos has a map guide on how to get there.

However, for now, here are the steps you want to take:

  1. Go across the Ellac Greatbridge to the Site of Grace on the other side
  2. Head southeast, keeping to the cliffs, into the valley that appears to be surrounded by cliffs on all sides
  3. You can pass under the cliffs and come out on the side of a poisoned lake, which you will need to cross
  4. Follow the cliffs until you can pass underground and come out at the river, which is the Ellac River Cave Site of Grace
  5. From there, follow the river downstream, where you can again pass under another cliff. This is a much longer route than the previous one, but you will eventually come out on the other side still amongst the water
  6. Keep heading south until you come to the Cerulean Coast Site of Grace
  7. From there, you want to follow the land heading west before turning north, where you can pass under another land formation and head under a rocky arch to the site where you can find the weapon

The exact location is called Charo’s Hidden Grave.

To get the sword, you will then have to face the Demi-Human Queen Marigga boss. She is a fairly easy boss to beat if you have made it through the main game, and this should make it easier, but here are a few pointers.

Spirit Ashes are allowed for this fight, and she is considered a Field-type boss. She will drop 100,000 Runes in addition to the Star-Lined Sword. There are other Demi-Humans around her that you may also have to fight and defeat, so be wary of that. Her standard attacks can be parried, but her magic ones cannot. She only has two attacks, her Projectile Spell and Staff Stab, for ranged and melee attacks, respectively. Breaking her stance will be the easiest way to defeat her.

Using The Star-Lined Sword

All The Stats

The Star Lined Sword in the menu in Elden Ring

The Star-Lined Sword is a brand-new Katanaweapon in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC in Elden Ring. It is an excellent weapon for Dex-scaling characters that enjoy being agile and fast. You will have to have a minimum of 23 in your Dex stat to use this weapon, and even characters at the minimum might be able to take advantage of this weapon. You will also need a minimum of 10 in Strength and 21 in Intelligence.

The weapon scaling is represented in the table below:

As you can see, it scales quite significantly with your Dexterity stat but will still scale a bit with your other stats. The starting base-line stats for the Star-Lined Sword are as follows:

Additionally, you cannot use the Ashes of War from Elden Ring with this weapon, but that is because it comes with its own Weapon Skill that gives a similar effect called Onze’s Line of Stars. This imbues the gun with the ability to enhance slashing attack damage. It is unique to this Katana and costs 10 FP.

Onze’s Line of Stars also allows up to two follow-up attacks, each with more damage than the last, leading to a line of star-studded damage. This looks like one slash to each side of the user, a wide-sweeping attack, and then an attack where you teleport forward into a downward slash, dealing heavy amounts of damage.

To upgrade this weapon to a +10 status, you will need Somber Smithing Stones, which you may still have left from your adventure through the main game. If you do not, they can be bought from Master Iji or found through exploration. Your base physical attack stats will significantly improve once you reach level 10.

The blade will also gain a passive effect to cause blood loss buildup, with a stat of 45, and this will increase your chances to deal damage through a more passive means as long as you are landing some of your hits. This can be great when using your blade in group situations, as hitting multiple enemies with the wide-sweeping combo can trigger this effect and allow you to focus on the most dangerous enemies first.

Players who will want this are those with strong Dex/Int builds, but others can also take advantage of these effects. It’s easy to see why players would wish for this weapon, as the effects are beautiful, and the lines of stars from it are aesthetically pleasing.

Anyone can grab this sword, some can use it well, others can unlock it’s true potential. This makes the Star-Lined Sword a great weapon to show off to all your friends in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC in Elden Ring.
