Where To Find The Rust Worn Key (& What It’s For)

The Rust Worn Key is one of many collectible items in Genshin Impact. As part of the Version 2.0 update, Genshin Impact introduced Inazuma, the Electro nation where players can explore islands, take on new missions, and discover new characters. The Rust Worn Key is an item that can be used at the barrier site at the end of the “Sacrificial Offering” quest in Inazuma.

Sacrificial Offering” is a World Quest in Inazuma that functions as the second part of Genshin Impact‘s Sacred Sakura Cleansing Ritual questline. For anyone looking to make the most out of Inazuma, this questline should be the first thing they complete since it unlocks new areas within the region. And because of this, it makes finding the Rust Worn Key in Genshin Impact super important.

It’s Time To Head To Inazuma

Players can collect this Rust Worn Key during the “A Strange Story in Konda” mission. This is the first mission for this Genshin Impact questline, and it’s started by speaking with the shrine maiden before the fox statues. Eventually, the quest will send players to the bottom of a well. This is where they must go to find the Rust Worn Key, although it’s not very easy to find.

The well that contains the Rust Worn Key in

is
just outside Konda Village
, but on the map, it’s located halfway between the Konda Village and Byakko Plain names. You need an Old Key to open it if you haven’t already done that.

To get the Rust Worn Key, players must first complete a puzzle, which will enable them to interact with a Thunder Sakura Bough. It’s important that players grab the Thunder Sakura Bough as it lets them access a smaller room in the cave.

Head Down The Well Near Konda Village

After entering the well during the “A Strange Story in Konda” mission, players should follow these steps to reach the Rust Worn Key in Genshin Impact:

Step 1

Follow the narrow path through the water until reaching an open room with an Electric wall below it.

Step 2

There will be Electrogranum Vine hidden behind a wall on the same level as the player when they first entered a room. Players should grab the Electrogranum and head down through the Electric Wall.

Step 3

In this room to the right of the red shrine, there will be another Electrogranum Vine. Players must grab this as well.

Step 4

From the Electrogranum Vine, players should climb a wall to the right to find another Electro Wall.

Step 5

Players must pass through the Electro Wall and keep climbing up to find a room with a cage. They will need to pull the lever to get inside. The Rust Worn Key will be in this room on the blue table, along with a Luxurious Chest to open.

What Is The Rust Worn Key Used For?

It Unlocks An Electroculus Lock

After collecting the Rust Worn Key, Paimon will comment, “Where there’s a key, there’s a lock,” although that doesn’t provide much of a hint as to what it’s used for – or where you need to go. Fortunately, there’s not too far to travel, as the Rust Worn Key can be used to unlock an Electroculus Lock just west of Chinju Forest. You can see the exact location in the video from WoW Quests above.

To get to the Electroculus Lock, you’ll need to head to the lake at the bottom of the mountain. This lake is guarded by ice enemies, so you’ll need to tread carefully around this area. The Electroculus Lock looks like a gate hidden away in a cave entrance off the side of the lake. Approach it and use the Rust Worn Key to open it. This will progress you through the “Sacrificial Offering” quest.

Be aware that there’s a second Rust Worn Key on the Seiraimaru ship and a third Rust Worn Key that can be found near Chizhang Wall in Chenyu Vale. While they share the same name, these keys are separate items and won’t work for the

Genshin Impact

quest that this guide covers.

Inside the unlocked cave will be an Electroculus to collect which can be offered to any of the Statue of the Seven in Inazuma for rewards. The higher the level of the Statue of the Seven in Genshin Impact, the more Primogems the player can collect.
