Jared Keeso’s beloved Canadian comedy Letterkenny spun off into the equally celebrated hockey comedy Shoresy, and the latter includes an under-the-radar connection to two of the original show’s stars. Shoresy follows series creator Jared Keeso as the titular senior hockey team captain, and features a colorful cast of supporting characters, including quite a few real NHL players and media pundits. While both Letterkenny and Shoresy are known for their inappropriate humor, Keeso has always found a way to infuse a surprising amount of heart into each season.

Given the spin-off nature of Shoresy, a number of minor characters from Letterkenny have shown up in Sudbury as members of the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs hockey team and the community that rallies around them. Besides the cameos, the two shows are connected in a few other behind-the-scenes ways. One location in particular serves as a heartwarming connection in support of two of Letterkenny‘s characters, and although neither has appeared in the Shoresy cast list yet, the connection makes it perfectly plausible that they and other Letterkenny characters will show up in future seasons.

What’s Shoresy’s First Name In Jared Keeso’s Letterkenny Spinoff?

The foul-mouthed captain of the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs is known by all as “Shoresy”, but that isn’t Jared Keeso’s character’s actual name.

Shoresy’s Peppi Panini Restaurant Is Owned By Letterkenny’s Tyson & Mia-Sophia Actors In Real Life

It’s a real place in Sudbury, Ontario

The local hangout for Shoresy and the rest of the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs in Shoresy is Peppi Panini, an Italian restaurant and bar located in downtown Sudbury on the show. As it turns out, Peppi Panini is a very real restaurant in actual downtown Sudbury in Ontario, officially labeled Peppi’s Ristorante & Lounge, but affectionately known as Peppi Panini. Shoresy uses many real locations from Sudbury, Ontario in the show, and the restaurant is one of the most prominently featured Sudbury locales.

The connection to Letterkenny is in the restaurant’s ownership; Peppi Panini is owned and operated by Jay and Julia Bertin, who play Tyson and Mia Sophia in Letterkenny. While Mia Sophia is only in four total episodes, most often as one of the gym girls who hang around the hockey players Reilly and Jonesy, Tyson has been around since season 1 of Letterkenny as one of Wayne’s (also played by Jared Keeso) top cronies when fighting and toughness are called for. Predictably, the real menu does include a pressed panini called the “Pitter Patter.”

Shoresy’s Peppi Panini Connection Makes Letterkenny Character Cameos More Likely

Both shows were filmed in SudburyTasya Teles as Nat and Jared Keeso as Shoresy in Shoresy season 3

With Jay and Julia Bertin working and living right where Shoresy is shot, it seems like a cameo from Tyson and/or Mia Sophia is a foregone conclusion. As Shoresy‘s ending noted, the story of Jared Keeso’s foul-mouthed but big-hearted character Shoresy is far from complete, so the two characters are bound to show up sooner or later. More importantly, the prominence of Peppi Panini in Shoresy makes the probability of more Letterkenny cameos even greater.

Both Letterkenny and Shoresy were shot in Sudbury, Ontario, with many locations in the town standing in for the fictional town of Letterkenny, Ontario in the original show. Peppi Panini being owned and operated by two of the original show’s actors means there is a very natural way for any Letterkenny character to make an appearance in Shoresy: they can be patrons of the restaurant. While it may be too much to expect any of the core characters like Squirrelly Dan or Katy to appear, someone like McMurray or Gail would make for a fun cameo that strengthens the spin-offs ties to the original show.
