  • Galacta effectively put an end to the debate about Marvel’s smartest character; though it had long been suspected, Galactus’ daughter offered undeniable proof that Reed Richards takes the top spot.

The longstanding debate regarding the smartest person in the Marvel Universe was officially settled by the daughter of Galactus. The Marvel Universe has many superintelligent characters, but fans have conflicting perspectives on who the smartest of them all truly is. There are the usual candidates, including Iron Man, and Bruce Banner, and of course, the Fantastic Four’s Reed Richards – who Galacta declared the most intelligent.

In Galacta: Daughter of Galactus #1 – written by Adam Warren, with art by Hector Sevilla Lujan – the protagonist names Reed Richards (a.k.a. Mister Fantastic) as the smartest individual in the Marvel Universe. Given that she is endowed with a portion of the “Powers Cosmic” wielded by Galactus, the issue presents her acknowledgment of Reed’s intellect as more than just a statement of opinion, but as an observable fact of the Universe.

Galacta monologues how she can physically feel how smart the Fantastic Four's Reed Richards is.

The way that Galacta’s powers work, her word on the subject can effectively considered gospel, meaning her assessment is as close to “canon” as a quantification of characters’ intelligence can get.

As Reed Richards researches and explains what’s happening to Galacta, she’s utterly distracted by
“the mind of the most brilliant hominid presently spawned by this world’s biomass.”

Galactus’ Daughter Confirms Reed Richards Is The Smartest Hero The Marvel Universe

Galacta, the daughter of Galactus is distracted by the brain of Reed Richards.

Galactus is one of the most dangerous Marvel villains and longest running enemies of the Fantastic Four. His daughter is Galactus’ exact opposite. She isn’t as power hungry as he is and, as such, isn’t as hungry in general, restricting herself to a tight diet. As she leaves Galactus a “quantum-entanglement equivalent of a voicemail,” Galacta reflects on the Fantastic Four once she approaches them for help regarding a cosmic tapeworm inside her. As Reed Richards researches and explains what’s happening to Galacta, she’s utterly distracted by “the mind of the most brilliant hominid presently spawned by this world’s biomass.”

She salivates at the thought of how Reed’s electrochemical evokludge is oozing through his human brain, more than the average brain. Because of her unique insights on the universe intune to her biology, Galacta’s is able to see, smell, and taste reality in ways that no one else can. Her senses can practically taste the neurontransmitters firing off in Reed Richards brain as he’s talking, empirically establishing the extent of his superintelligence. This only makes her all the hungrier in his presence, thinking about how delicious the brain of Reed Richards (which amounts to 14 gigacalories) alone would be.

Cementing Reed Richards as Marvel’s smartest character, via Galactus’ daughter, establishes the undeniable genius that he wields.

Reed Richards Has Long Been The Top Contender For Marvel’s Smartest Hero

Galacta Puts An End To The Debate

The way that Galacta sees the universe makes it clear that the way she views Reed Richards is not a matter of opinion, but actual fact. In the same comic, she names Thor’s Mjolnir as Marvel’s ultimate weapon, not out of hyperbole, but because she can understand everyone and everything in all reality on a molecular level. That’s how she’s also able to confirm that Reed Richards is literally the smartest man in the galaxy. Cementing Reed Richards as Marvel’s smartest character, via Galactusdaughter, establishes the undeniable genius that he wields, and his capability to outsmart any foe.
