Jenn got her start on Joey Graziadei’s Bachelor season. She made it to his Top 6 women before he said goodbye to her right before his hometown dates.

Jenn was heartbroken, but she was ecstatic to accept the role of the lead of The Bachelorette season 21. She made history as the first-ever Asian American Bachelor franchise lead. Although she’s been a strong lead and has been making mostly good decisions throughout the season, Jenn’s focus on getting engaged is a mistake. After saying goodbye to Jeremy Simon after her hometown dates, she’s now headed to the Fantasty Suites with her final three men: Devin Strader, Marcus Shoberg, and Jonathon Johnson. Here’s why Jenn should leave the show in a relationship, but not with a ring on her finger.

Jenn Only Broke Up With Jeremy Because He Didn’t Seem Ready For An Engagement Yet

Throughout The Bachelorette season 21, Jenn and Jeremy had a sweet relationship. They repeatedly gushed that they made each other so happy. From their one-on-one date at Seattle’s Pike Place Market to their hometown date at Stew Leonard’s in Connecticut, they had so much fun together.

However, Jenn and Jeremy got a wake-up call from Jeremy’s family, particularly his mother, when she told them that this wasn’t a game or a show, but their real lives. She thought that Jeremy might be ready for an engagement with the right person, but it was hard for her to say if Jenn was that woman because she’d just met her. In addition, Jeremy and Jenn hadn’t expressed their feelings for each other before their hometown date. Although Jeremy told Jenn that he was falling for her at the end of the date, she said goodbye to him at the rose ceremony right before the Fantasy Suites.

Jenn and Jeremy seemed like a great match, but they simply weren’t ready to get engaged in the short timeline of the show. If they’d met under normal circumstances in real life, they could’ve built a long-term relationship, but, instead, Jenn broke up with him in order to get engaged. Perhaps Jeremy was Jenn’s person, but she’ll never know because she wanted to rush into an engagement.

So far on The Bachelorette season 21, Jonathon and Marcus have told Jenn that they’re falling for her, but only Devin has said, “I love you.“ It’s hard to believe that Jenn is talking about getting engaged to Jonathon and Marcus when both of them were holding back just a week before. Although Devin seems genuine, it’s also possible that he’s just telling Jenn what she wants to hear, or what he believes to be true, so that he can continue on the journey with her.

Jenn definitely needs more time to get to know these men, rather than rushing into a proposal.

It seems reckless of Jenn to be considering getting engaged to Jonathon and Marcus, who haven’t even told her “I love you” yet. For some reason, none of Jenn’s connections with the men on The Bachelorette season 21 seem strong enough to make such a huge commitment at the end. Jenn definitely needs more time to get to know these men, rather than rushing into a proposal. It’s possible that Marcus, Jonathon, and Jeremy could all fall deeply in love with Jenn if given the time that they needed.

In addition, while Jenn might believe that she wants an engagement, she doesn’t seem ready for it either. She has to hold back a lot with the men because they haven’t been expressing their feelings to her. If she slowed down and took the pressure off of them, things would unfold in a more natural way that would help her to be more certain about her final choice. An engagement at the end of The Bachelorette season 21 is simply a bad idea for everyone.

The Bachelorette began in 2003 with the engagement and eventual marriage of Trista Rehn and Ryan Sutter. However, since then, only three other couples have stayed together. They include married couples Desiree Hartsock and Chris Siegfried and JoJo Fletcher and Jordan Rodgers, and engaged couple Charity Lawson and Dotun Olubeko. Two Bachelorette couples have divorced since getting married after the show–Ashley Hebert and J.P. Rosenbaum and Rachel Lindsay and Bryan Abasolo.

Since Becca Kurfrin’s Bachelorette season in 2018, every Bachelorette broke off her engagement, including Hannah Brown, Clare Crawley, Tayshia Adams, Katie Thurston, Michelle Young, Gabby Windey, and Rachel Recchia. The Bachelor and Bachelor in Paradise have similar dismal track records when it comes to lasting engagements that actually lead to marriage.

Out of 28 Bachelors, Sean Lowe is the only one who married his final choice, Catherine Giudici, while Zach Shallcross and Kaity Biggar and Joey Graziadei and Kelsey Anderson are still engaged, and Matt James and Rachael Kirkconnell are still dating. Although Bachelor in Paradise has had some success, every couple from seasons 8 and 9 broke up shortly after the season finales aired. The timelines of the Bachelor franchise shows are way too short for couples to commit to a lifetime together after getting engaged.

It was very clear that the couples from these shows didn’t know each other well enough when they got engaged, and they couldn’t make their relationships work in the real world. Jenn could be on track for making the same mistake, but she should be smarter about it, and learn from these mistakes. After all, this isn’t the first season of the show. Jenn shouldn’t get engaged at the end of her season.

Jenn Seems More Focused On An Engagement Than Finding The Right Person

It seems that Jenn might choose the man who’s ready for an engagement, rather than the man who’s right for her. It’s possible that this could be the same person, but, if the show didn’t end with a proposal, then Jenn might’ve chosen someone else. Jeremy and Jenn were building a strong relationship, but they needed more time to develop a connection that was strong enough to determine if they wanted to get married.

It’s unfortunate that the pressures of The Bachelorette are causing Jenn to make decisions based on an engagement rather than the strongest relationship. She could be missing out on someone great just because they aren’t there yet. It takes time to get to know people, and these rushed engagements clearly don’t work in most cases. Jenn needs more time to get to know Devin, Marcus, and Jonathon before she gets engaged to one of them. Hopefully, Jenn will make the right decision and live happily ever after.
