The universe of The Boys is expanding once again with the announcement of a prequel spinoff, and there are already a ton of exciting details about Vought Rising. Taking viewers back to the earliest days of the titular evil corporation, the new prequel will explain the origins of Vought and explore the development of the franchise’s notorious Compound V in the wake of WWII. Though the new series will take a step back in time, familiar faces like Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) and Stormfront (Aya Cash) are returning to anchor the new chapter in The Boys saga.
Vought Rising isn’t the first spinoff of Amazon Prime Video’s smash-hit superhero series, and the animated offshoot The Boys Presents: Diabolical proved fans wanted more. Likewise, Gen V was another success for Prime Video when it arrived in 2023, and the streamer has even green-lit another expansion in the form of The Boys: Mexico (starring Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal). Now, even as The Boys is prepared to come to a close at the end of its upcoming fifth season, the newly-announced Vought Rising is going to help keep the superhero franchise fresh for years to come.

Aya Cash Offers A Script Update On The Spinoff
With the spinoff of The Boys still in the early stage of development, the latest news comes in the form of a script update on Vought Rising. While walking the red carpet to promote her new series, The Franchise, Stormfront actor Aya Cash dropped some hints about the scripts for the upcoming spinoff. Though she couldn’t provide any story details, Cash said “I’ve read some scripts and they’re really good.” Though this doesn’t give away too much, it does prove that writing is progressing smoothly.

Vought Rising Is Confirmed
A Prequel To The Boys Is Coming Soon
During the panel for The Boys at 2024’s San Diego Comic-Con, the show’s creators not only teased what was in store for the main series, but also announced a prequel spinoff. Vought Rising is officially in development from producers Paul Grellong and Eric Kripke, the latter of whom is responsible for bringing the entire franchise to the small screen in the first place. Grellong is set to be the showrunner for the upcoming prequel, which will be a co-production between Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios.

season 5 is slated to arrive in 2026.
Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Ori Marmur, Pavun Shetty, Ken Levin, Jason Netter, Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson, and Michaela Starr are all attached as producers as well, and they make up many of the minds behind the main series. Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash are set to reprise their roles as Soldier Boy and Stormfront, respectively.
Kripke hyped up the series when appearing at the SDCC panel, saying:

Though there are few details about the prequel revealed yet, the announcement at SDCC also came with the reveal that two recognizable supes from The Boys would be front and center in Vought Rising. First, it was confirmed that Jensen Ackles will be on hand to reprise his role as early American superhero, Soldier Boy, and he’ll be joined by Aya Cash as Stormfront (also known as Clara Vought). No other names are attached thus far, but a slew of new and returning supes from the franchise are expected.
