Today’s Connections Hints & Answers For October 7, 2024 (Puzzle #483)

Sometimes, when you are staring at a Connections puzzle, it can feel like your head is full of bubbles because nothing seems to make sense. Today’s puzzle can certainly make you feel this way, as the words are mostly all noises that you can make, with some exceptions. This can make the puzzle particularly challenging, and separating out which of the words goes with what category can be difficult. But our troubles are your clues, so keep scrolling to find out how to navigate this puzzle and achieve victory.

If you like Connections, you will also like the daily Wordle puzzle. There have been quite a few of these so far, with a big backcatalog of five-letter words that have been used already. You will use the same logic to figure out which letters go in which box you use to figure out which words go in which category. However, there are a few other tips and tricks for Wordle, mainly depending on how the puzzle clues you into what letters are correct or in the wrong spot.

Today’s Connections Category Hints

To get the right matches in today’s puzzle, you will have to determine which words can be separated and isolated into a category together. As stated, many of these are noises and exclamations, but there are a few other words that you can eliminate to make the puzzle easier. Beyond that, here are four more clues to help you sort the words out:

  • One category is about words that can describe a person.
  • One category is about words that sound like the noises a specific machine makes.
  • One category is about noises that a person makes when they are happy.
  • One category includes the names of four famous characters.

Once you have these clues, you might still need a little help. The following category names can help guide you in the right direction.

Yellow Answers: Revealed & Explained

KNUCKLEHEAD

DING-DONG

DODO

YAHOO

YO-YO

I don’t know that I have actually heard of any of these words used to describe a person, at least not in quite some time. I remember YAHOO meaning something like that in my distant memory, but I was not thinking about that when I looked at this category. In fact, I thought YAHOO likely formed a category with a few other words as phrases that expressed joy. Perhaps I should have looked to see if these words had alternate meanings, but I did not, which ended my puzzle more unfortunately today.

Green Answers: Revealed & Explained

CAR ONOMATOPOEIA

BEEP BEEP

PURR

SKRRT

VROOM

I did strongly suspect that this was one of the categories, particularly with VROOM and BEEP BEEP being in the word list. PURR and SKRRT were not words I would have normally associated with cars, although I have actually heard PURR used to describe an engine’s sound. SKRRT was not one I have used before, but looking at it after the puzzle was over makes sense. And, it at least belongs here more than in any other category, and it was the word that I could not figure out where it might go for most of the puzzle.

Blue Answers: Revealed & Explained

SOUNDS OF LAUGHTER

HAR-HAR

HOOT

WHOOP

YUK

I thought that sounds of joy were likely to be a category, but as it turned out, it was more based on a specific type of joy. I figured HAR-HAR was laughter, but I did not originally think of the other words in that way specifically. YUK is not a word I would normally associate with laughter, but now I do remember that it is fairly close to the sound Goofy makes when he laughs, so that might be where it comes from. I also had YAHOO with HOOT and WHOOP, which made this a little harder to solve.

Purple Answers: Revealed & Explained

FAMOUS PRIMATES

BUBBLES

GEORGE

KING KONG

KOKO

This was the “hardest” category today, but it was the category I solved first and the one I had very few issues with. There are not many names in this puzzle, and even if I did not originally think these were all primates, I was able to get all of the names. I was originally thinking these were cartoon characters, particularly with KOKO, and I had DODO in here at that time. I did switch that out for BUBBLES after one wrong guess, and luckily that was correct.
