Inventive Dragon Ball Fanart Shows The Series’ Most Iconic Moments From Gohan’s Perspective

Throughout Dragon Ball’s epic saga, there have been countless moments that have been ingrained in anime lexicon involving Goku and his extended friends and family overcoming impossible odds, with some of the series best moments featuring Goku’s son, the fighter-turned-scholar known as Gohan. In new fanart, Gohan’s journey across Dragon Ball’s years-long story is recounted but instead of adapting scenes as originally presented, fans get to see how these events played out from over Gohan’s shoulder.

Dragon Ball’s Gohan Becomes A Marvel Super Hero In New Art Tribute To Iconic Spider-Man Cover

Gohan and Spider-Man are well-respected heroes in their universes, with new fanart replacing Spidey with Gohan on his very first Marvel Comics cover!

Shared by HeatExtended (u/Ok_Gold4667) on Reddit’s r/dbz channel, this artist has previously uploaded Dragon Ball fanart featuring other iconic moments from the show along with sketches that show Goku in his various forms but drawn in two distinct art styles. Illustrating Android 18 kissing Krillin after one of their first meetings, Super Saiyan Goku standing over a sliced-in-half Frieza, and even Goku’s epic Instant Transmission Kamehameha against Cell, HeatExtended utilizes a visual style entirely unique to them, subtly paying homage to the late and great Akira Toriyama’s work without taking away from what HeatExtended accomplishes here themselves.

Unique Gohan Fanart Gives New Perspective to Iconic Dragon Ball Z Moments

Introduced in the first episode of Dragon Ball Z, Gohan started as a whiny child with incredible yet unpredictable strength, grew into a powerful teenager who quite literally saved the world single-handedly, and eventually evolved into a proper young adult who, when not hitting the books like Chi-Chi always wanted, fights crime as the superhero known as the Great Saiyaman. Directly and indirectly involved in nearly every major event in Dragon Ball Z’s story, Gohan’s journey from an impressionable young kid to a competent adult has now been immortalized in fanart that further enriches the series’ best moments.

Placing fans on the ground behind Gohan, HeatExtended first shows a young Gohan as he witnesses his father arrive in the nick of time to defeat Nappa in an instantly recognizable way. Next, HeatExtended draws Gohan clad in Saiyan armor as he watches arguably the most pivotal moment in Dragon Ball history: Goku going Super Saiyan against Frieza. Following this with yet another all-time great Dragon Ball moment, HeatExtended illustrates Gohan on his knees as he watches his father Instant Transmission a bloated Cell off Earth, with the final image showing adult Gohan observing as Goku takes on Super Buu.

Getting to see Dragon Ball’s best moments from Gohan’s perspective is an ingenious way to bring a new sense of appreciation to these fan-favorite scenes but also shows how infinitely creative the nerd community can be, with HeatExtended (u/Ok_Gold4667) fitting that bill perfectly. Now all that’s left is for this creator to whip up a follow-up series that adapts even more iconic Dragon Ball moments, like Gohan seeing his father die while fighting Raditz, him witnessing the tragic death of Android 16, and his one-handed Kamehameha against Cell all being at the top of the list.
