Few characters in the Marvel Universe are as tough and strong as Venom and Wolverine. These two characters are physical powerhouses and practically unstoppable in their own rights – but despite this, two separate villains managed to humiliate both of them in the same way. When Venom tried to face off against the King in Black, he was handed a humiliating defeat, one that Wolverine had experienced before.
Venom #3 – by Donny Cates, Ryan Stegman, JP Mayer, Frank Martin, and Clayton Cowles – featured Venom’s humiliation at the hands of Knull, the ancient god of darkness known as the King in Black, creator of all symbiotes. Naturally, this gave Knull power over symbiotes as well, allowing him to command and control them. This made fighting him very difficult, as Eddie Brock discovered.
When Venom leaped at Knull, he was completely defeated when Knull simply forced the Venom symbiote to disperse from Eddie’s body. This left Eddie completely powerless and unable to do anything against Knull, and a very similar thing once happened to Wolverine.

Wolverine Canonically Became Venom Way Before Spider-Man
One of the most iconic parts of Spider-Man’s history was wearing the symbiote suit, but he wasn’t chronologically the first Marvel hero to do it.
Knull Instantly Stripped The Venom Symbiote From Eddie Brock
Venom has surprising agility for a character of his size, giving him the ability to easily keep up with the likes of Spider-Man and traverse the city in the same manner that Spider-Man does. Venom can also match the Juggernaut with his strength, which is an incredible feat. Wolverine is a character who is also just as dangerous, having a near-unstoppable healing factor, razor-sharp claws, and remarkable speed and strength.
These two sound like they’d be unbeatable in combat. Notably, just as Venom was humiliated by Knull in Venom #3, Wolverine also suffered a similar humiliation by Magneto.
Magneto Ripped The Adamantium From Wolverine’s Skeleton
Wolverine is one of the most dangerous mutants to ever appear in Marvel Comics, part of this is due to the combination of his Adamantium-infused skeleton and his absurd healing factor. These two factors make Wolverine practically unkillable, but Wolverine learned the hard way that he was far from invincible. When Wolverine went up against Magneto, he was easily defeated when Magneto used his control of magnetism to pull all the metal out of Wolverine’s body. This was an extremely painful experience for Wolverine and had long-term consequences, such as starting a chain reaction that saw Wolverine devolve into a beast.
Wolverine and Venom both surprisingly high-strength characters, are remarkably agile, and can cause massive amounts of destruction with their abilities. Venom is known for his razor-sharp teeth and his ability to overwhelm enemies with his tendrils, while Wolverine is known for his ferocity and razor-sharp claws. This has led to them winning the majority of fights they’ve been in, but they both were humbled by villains that were able to turn their strengths into weaknesses at a pivotal moment. While Venom and Wolverine have managed to defeat most villains they go up against, Knull and Magneto will always be the two villains who humbled Marvel’s strongest heroes.
