Warning: This article contains MAJOR SPOILERS for Jurassic World: Chaos Theory.
The plot of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory centers on Brooklynn’s apparent death, leading to questions about what really happened that night. Building off the events of Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, Chaos Theory picks up not long before the events of Jurassic World: Dominion. The Jurassic Park franchise continues to expand, with the Nublar Six from Camp Cretaceous now young adults who come back together when they become the targets of a conspiracy.
Right off the bat, Jurassic World: Chaos Theory’s trailer included the shocking twist that Brooklynn was killed in a tragic dinosaur-related accident prior to the first episode — a devastating loss for the rest of the cast and Camp Cretaceous fans alike. However, as the rest of the Nublar Six quickly learn, there is more to the attack than initially believed. It sets up a larger story for Brooklynn in season 2, with the fast-paced story including multiple twists and turns. Here is what happened to her and how she factors into season 2.
Brooklynn Was Almost Murdered (Using An Allosaurus)
The Allosaurus Attack On Brooklynn Was Not An Accident
Until the very end of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory season 1, it’s believed that Brooklynn died in an allosaurus attack. Brooklynn planned to meet up with Darius that night so she could show him the illegal dinosaur sales going on within the DPW. The situation went horribly wrong when the allosaurus was released from the transportation truck. Despite what everyone believed, this was no accident. During Jurassic World: Chaos Theory episode 7, “That Night,” a DPW agent named Mateo details exactly what happened the night of the allosaurus attack.
Mateo was paid to make an illegal dinosaur drop, but the other truck never showed up. Upon exiting the truck, he realized that the dinosaur wasn’t sedated like usual. The lock was then undone remotely, allowing the allosaurus to exit the truck and attack Brooklynn. She barely survived the assassination attempt, losing an arm in the process — which explains the blood at the attack site. Brooklynn only survived thanks to DPW agent Ronnie, a friend of Darius who was able to reach Brooklynn before the dinosaurs killed her.
Why Brooklynn Was Attacked
Brooklynn Wouldn’t Stop Researching Illegal Dinosaur Sales
Before the allosaurus attack, Brooklynn began tracking the illegal buying and selling of dinosaurs using the conspiracy theory website Dark Jurassic. She figured out that the DPW was involved and wanted more information. Brooklynn went to Kenji’s dad, Daniel Kon, thinking he was involved in the illegal practice. While he denies his involvement when speaking to Kenji, the money and note that Kenji and Darius find in her closet indicate that he lied.

The note references that Brooklynn and Mr. Kon had a deal, revealing she was getting more information by becoming involved directly in the black market. This is how she knew about the dinosaur drop on the night of her attack, only for it to turn out to be a trap. As she continued digging into the DPW’s dinosaur smuggling, Cabrera sent threatening messages warning Brooklynn to stop. She wouldn’t, so he worked with the allosaurus attack to scare her into silence — only for the Broker to try and silence her forever.
Brooklynn Is Alive (& Why She’s In Hiding)
Brooklynn’s Survival Is Revealed At The End Of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 1
At the end of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory season 1, it’s revealed that Brooklynn has been alive the entire time. After the allosaurus attack, it’s clear that Brooklynn went into hiding, leaving her friends and family to assume the worst, but the true reaosn was left secret to the audience. The most likely theory about why is that she realized that her life would continue to be in danger unless she gave up on exposing and taking down the illegal dinosaur sales – a goal she wouldn’t let go of.
Another liklihood is that she went into hiding to protect her friends. Brooklynn might have found out that the DPW caused the allosaurus attack and believed they would leave her friends alone if she were dead. A third explanation for her going into hiding is that she realized that she could get more done if everyone thought she was dead. She could continue researching and tracking the transactions online without constantly looking over her shoulder. Ultimately, all three of these theories proved correct in season 2.
Who Saved Brooklynn & Why She Stayed “Dead”
Brooklynn Has A Good Reason To Go Into Hiding
The full details of Brooklynn’s story are revealed in Chaos Theory season 2 episode 3, “C13v3rGr186.” The episode is largely centered on a number of flashbacks, delving into Brooklynn’s actions shortly before and right after the attack. It turns out that it was Darius’ boss Ronnie at the DPW who rescued Brooklynn. Given her experience with dinosaurs and medical expertise (albeit with wildlife instead of people), Ronnie was able to rescue Brooklynn and patch her up enough that she could survive losing her hand.
Despite her temptations to tell her friends and family about her survival, Brooklynn ultimately holds back for a few reasons. Having already begun to track down the mysterious Broker, Brooklynn decides being dead could allow her to remain under the radar as she continues her investigation. It also prevents her (and Ronnie) from being targeted again. On top of that, Brooklynn overhears the villainous Jensen casually mentioning killing her friends if they become a problem, which convinces her to keep them out of the loop for their own safety.

How Brooklynn Goes Undercover
In season 2 of Chaos Theory, Brooklynn’s storyline sees her go undercover within the dinosaur black market. Working both sides of the conflict between them and protesters looking to “liberate” the dinos, Brooklynn is eventually able to meet the Broker herself, who turns out to be Soyona Santos. Santos is the same smuggler who appeared in Jurassic World: Dominion, hinting at the scope of the operation. Eventually working her way into Santos’ good graces, Brooklynn is able to learn more firsthand and witness her crimes.
This could be the key to Brooklynn exposing the black market fully, but may also be a bridge too far for her friends to forgive.
This sets up Brooklynn’s status at the end of season 2. Although she’s found by the rest of the Nublar Six and confirms her survival, she brushes off their attempts to keep her around. Instead, despite her temptation to rejoin her friends, Brooklynn goes with Santos to meet her other allies. This could be the key to Brooklynn exposing the black market fully, but may also be a bridge too far for her friends to forgive. Fans will have to wait and see how things play out in the subsequent seasons of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory.
