Farming bosses in Diablo 4 has been the definitive endgame experience for a while now, which has not changed with the release of the Vessel of Hatred expansion. While these bosses don’t drop Legendary gear anymore, they now only drop Unique items, which makes it far easier to target specific pieces of gear. And with the addition of Runewords this season, Tormented Bosses have become more important than ever.

Last season, all it took was four Resplendent Sparks to craft any Mythic Unique item of your choice. However, this has been reworked in order to incorporate the addition of Runes. Mythic Uniques now require three different sets of Runes in order to craft, with the three types necessary being different depending on the Mythic crafted. In order to obtain enough Runes to craft the desired Mythic, players should prioritize farming Tormented Bosses in Diablo 4.

Best Tormented Bosses To Farm For Materials

Duriel And Andariel

While all Tormented Bosses have a chance to drop Mythic Unique items, Duriel and Andariel have double the chance than all other bosses do. This means that it’s most efficient to farm Mythic Unique items from these bosses, as opposed to trying your luck from a boss like Grigoire, The Galvanic Saint. Different Tormented Bosses will drop different loot depending upon the class you are playing, except for the Rogue who has no Mythic Unique gear tied to their class.

Tormented Bosses also have a high chance to drop a variety of Runes, which can be used to craft specific Mythic Unique items at the Jeweler vendor. Each Mythic Unique will require three different sets of Runes to craft, of which six per set are needed. For example, in order to craft Tyrael’s Might, the player needs six Lith Runes, six Feo Runes, six Tec Runes, and two Resplendent Sparks.

Seething Opals, Elixirs, And Incense

In order to farm Tormented Bosses with the utmost efficiency, players should take advantage of Elixirs, Incense, and the seasonal item Seething Opals. These items can stack with each other, which can buff both the player individually and the whole party. Each time a Tormented Boss is defeated, players gain experience and vendor reputation, which can be boosted with Elixirs and Seething Opals, one of the best new seasonal changes.

Incenses are used to buff the entire party, which will help with both survivability and damage against Tormented Bosses. Tormented Bosses no longer drop a full inventory worth of loot, meaning players don’t have to return to town to dismantle their loot every time a boss is defeated.

While players are farming Duriel for the correct Runes, players will also be loading up on Ancestral Unique items and other crafting materials such as Rawhide. As such, players might as well be farming for the right Unique items with specific Greater Affixes on them. For example, the Rod of Kepeleke with a Maximum Resource Greater Affix can be acquired from Duriel, which is pivotal for making the Spiritborn Quill Volley build as strong as possible.

With Gold arguably being the most important resource in the game at the moment, players should sell any extra Unique items to vendors instead of dismantling them at the Blacksmith. This will net players enormous amounts of Gold that can be used for Masterworking gear. However, since Tormented Bosses don’t drop Legendary gear anymore, they are not the best source of all types of endgame loot anymore in Diablo 4.
