Tuned Global launches ‘Social Radio’ that turns listeners into creators

Listeners can now become radio hosts with a new technology from B2B music and streaming platform Tuned Global that transforms how people listen to and share music.

The new technology, called Social Radio, allows creators — whether listeners, artists, or radio DJs — to launch interactive broadcasting experiences using a music platform’s catalog.

Users can curate music mixes, add voice commentary, incorporate sound effects, and enable real-time listener interactions through comments and emojis, Tuned Global explained in a press release on Monday (November 25).

The platform employs Tuned Global’s AutomixIQ technology, which the company says ensures seamless transitions between tracks. It functions as a software development kit (SDK), meaning the platform is designed to work with existing music apps. The technology can handle “thousands” of broadcasts simultaneously, making it scalable for large platforms.

“We see the future of Social Radio as an extension of an existing music service or radio station.”

“We see the future of Social Radio as an extension of an existing music service or radio station,” said Con Raso, Tuned Global’s Managing Director.

“Stand-alone approaches like Clubhouse demonstrated the opportunity but have proven tricky to sustain, as it’s really about the content, being the consistent stream of quality audio.”

Raso continued: “Social audio is best suited to existing music apps where the audience is already listening to music and podcasts and radio operators who want to differentiate their digital product and boost user engagement. When you already have the content side sorted, and then add fun interactive features that can engage an existing audience, you have something truly special.”

Tuned Global said Social Radio transforms passive listening into an active, community-driven experience.

“What Instagram is for image sharing and TikTok is for videos, Social Radio is for radio broadcasting. It opens new ways for deeper engagement, creative interaction, and community building in digital radio and audio streaming,” the company said.

Tuned Global provides white-label music streaming and advanced API services. With a music catalog exceeding 150 million tracks, the company serves diverse industries, including telecommunications, gaming, health, fitness, and media.

The company has already forged partnerships with companies like Line Music, Lululemon, Reactional Music, MediMusic, Sona, Etisalat, Warner Music Group (on a custom Ed Sheeran app), Universal Music Group and Pizza Hut, Sony Music, GMM Grammy, FanLabel, and Gabb Wireless.
