However, some of these models are inspired by upcoming Star Wars projects, and one in particular hasn’t even had its first trailer released.

As of August 1st, LEGO has officially added eight new Star Wars sets to its 2024 offerings. 2024’s Imperial Star Destroyer is notably smaller than previously released versions. That said, this new iteration does have more pieces, appearing to have some updated design features. Ultimately, the price-to-piece count ratio feels comparatively reasonable with past models, seeing as how this new set appears to be denser with more detail, as well as its inclusion of 7 different minifigures, the majority of which are Imperials (including Darth Vader).

However, the major selling point for collectors will undoubtedly be the exclusive Cal Kestis minifigure, the next LEGO Star Wars 25th-anniversary bonus character following Darth Malak, ARC Trooper Fives, and Saw Gerrera, all of whom have received the brick-built treatment for the very first time in 2024. The leading protagonist of EA’s Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor, Cal Kestis instantly became a beloved Star Wars character following his canon debut in 2019. As such, an official minifigure of the Order 66 survivor will likely be just as much of a draw as the entire Star Destroyer.

Ahsoka Tano’s Duel on Peridea showcases the final conflict between Tano and Morgan Elsbeth, as seen in the finale episode of Ahsoka’s first season. The model also includes a minifigure of Ezra Bridger as he appears in the live-action series alongside Grand Admiral Thrawn, the both of them having been exiled to the extragalactic world of Peridea following their conflict in the series finale of the animated series Star Wars Rebels. A resurrected Night Trooper is also featured.

Currently, each minifigure is exclusive to this particular set, and each one features brand-new printing. Similarly, the build has some dynamic visual aesthetics, such as the black columns with gold inscriptions, just as they were depicted in the live-action Star Wars series. The platform itself also featured some rotating play features, allowing collectors to move the characters as if they were mid-duel.

The new C-3PO (75398) model is quite tall, standing at 15 inches. Featuring some classic features such as the protocol droid’s silver leg and exposed wire waist, it looks as though this new build of Threepio will pair very well with this year’s R2-D2 (75379). Having been designed to scale with each other, collectors will have the opportunity to bring Star Wars’ most iconic droid duo together as a very nice display piece. The model itself also stands on a very nice black base.

An updated version of a classic Star Wars LEGO build, a brand-new version of the Desert Skiff and Sarlacc Pit (75396) has been released. Inspired by the iconic scene from Return of the Jedi, this model features some exciting design updates for models and minifigues alike. This is especially for the minifigs of Luke Skywalker, Lando Calrissian in his helmeted guard disguise, and a blinded Han Solo (still suffering from hibernation sickness).

The Sarlacc Pit itself has some fun play features as well, though it has to be said that the raised dessert base does look like an excuse to include more pieces (subsequently driving up the model’s price tag). That said, the model also comes with an exclusive minifigure of Nien Numb. The next LEGO Star Wars 25th-anniversary minifigure, Lando’s co-pilot in The Millennium Falcon during the Battle of Endor has never received the brick-built treatment, despite having been part of the canon for over 40 years.

LEGO’s new Creative Play Droid Builder looks to be a very unique and fun build for younger collectors. Featuring four different astromechs, Droid Builder features R2-D2, QT-KT, Chopper, and R5-J2, all of whom are droids that do exist in the official Star Wars canon. However, there’s also a wide range of fun and silly accessories, including floaties, mustaches, bow ties, cowboy hats, and more.

The set also comes with another LEGO Star Wars 25th-anniversary minifigure of Young Leia as she’s seen in Obi-Wan Kenobi. Played by Vivien Lyra Blair, young Princess Leia was rescued by Obi-Wan Kenobi after she found herself in the crosshairs of the Imperial Inquisitors, resulting in Kenobi’s first clashes with Darth Vader himself since their battle on Mustafar. The new minifigure also comes with Leia’s loyal droid companion L0-LA59 aka “Lola”.

Another exciting model inspired by its upcoming appearance in Rebuild the Galaxy, the Dark Falcon is a villainous all-black and red version of the classic Star Wars ship. The ship even comes with a Death Star-inspired radar dish. To that end, the sinister new twist on one of the most classic Star Wars vehicles will also come with darker versions of classic characters such as Darth Jar Jar and Darth Rey.

There will also be a Jedi version of Darth Vader with all-white armor as well as “Beach Luke”, appearing to be a more carefree and lazy version of the Jedi Master than the one seen in the canonical galaxy far, far away. An evil Threepio with a black arm will also be included, as well as “Darth Dev”, appearing to be a darker version of one of the speicial’s new characters.

LEGO’s new Onyx Cinder set features one of the best looks yet at Skeleton Crew’s cast of characters outside exclusive footage released at Star Wars Celebration 2023 and a handful of images. It’s also the best look yet at this new Star Wars ship, which hasn’t even been shown in its entirety thanks to the absence of an official trailer. Regardless, the set info confirms that Jude Law’s Jedi character will be named “Jod”, while the four kids he comes into contact with will be named named “Wim”, “Fern”, “KB” and “Neel”.

Appearing to be a large cargo freighter with rotating engines, turrets, and grappling hook features, this new 1,325-piece model of The Onyx Cinder looks like it will be a very fun build. As the newest starship in the Star Wars canon, it’s pretty remarkable that LEGO gets to provide fans with the very first look at this new vehicle, albeit in plastic brick form. At any rate, a trailer for Skeleton Crew will likely be coming sooner rather than later, given that the show’s release date is currently set for December 2024.
