Big Chicken, a fast-casual concept founded by Shaquille O’Neal, signed a 20-unit development deal for Michigan. The agreement is with franchisee company H&D Group Investments. H&D Group plans to open locations in cities such as Detroit, Ann Arbor, Lansing, Flint, Saginaw and Mount Pleasant.
Los Angeles-based Dave’s Hot Chicken signed a deal with its original franchisees to open 12 more units. The group of Deryl Pangelinan, Andrew Voss, Chris Cook, Andrew Fehali and Lawrence Kourie originally franchised with Dave’s Hot Chicken in 2020 and today own 10 units across Arizona, California and Nevada. Now, they’re planning to open a dozen more in the state of Virginia. Founded in 2017, Dave’s has more than 140 locations.
Electronics reseller PayMore is expanding in Arizona with a five-unit agreement. Entrepreneurs Daniel and Stephanie Steimel signed the deal, with a plan to open three in Phoenix and two in Tucson. Daniel Steimel brings experience as a general counsel while Stephanie Steimel has a background in healthcare, previously working as a critical care nurse at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Established in 2011, PayMore has 16 locations.
Serotonin Centers, an anti-aging and human longevity concept, signed a six-unit agreement for the Jacksonville area with local entrepreneur Darnice O’Leary. Founded in 2021, Serotonin Centers has four locations open.
Sports lodge brand Twin Peaks signed an area development agreement in the Baton Rouge area with Chris and Vanessa Chung of Summit Twins Management Co. The Houston-based business duo brings restaurant experience to the deal, as they’re owners of five Cajun-style seafood restaurants and one food truck. Their first Twin Peaks is set to open by the end of 2024, with four more to follow. Twin Peaks has nearly 110 locations in the United States and Mexico.
Health-focused pet supply brand Pet Evolution signed a 40-unit agreement with Deepak and Ameeta Goyal, who have backgrounds in engineering. The new franchisee duo will open the 40 locations across California’s Los Angeles and San Bernadino counties. Founded in 2012 and franchising since 2021, Pet Evolution has four locations open.
Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa inked a three-unit deal with Erin Powell for the Nashville market. Powell, an experienced entrepreneur who founded the brand Ginger Juice, will open the spas over a three-year period. Powell will open the locations with help from business partner Dale Goodrich and area developers Don and Maria Williams. Launched in 2004, Hand & Stone has more than 560 spas open.
Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii signed a three-unit agreement with a Dallas-based entrepreneur, expanding the brand’s presence in Texas. The new franchisee is Brandon Lind, the owner of a home décor business. Bad Ass Coffee has 30 franchise locations throughout the U.S.
Strength training concept Discover Strength signed a three-unit deal with a family to open locations in Utah. Bill and Lisa Arrigoni, as well as their daughter and son-in-law, Ali and Jeff Wendt, will open units across the Salt Lake City area. Established in 2006, Discover Strength has 34 locations open.
Salon franchise Regis Corp. signed a master franchise agreement with Ravissant Style Private Limited to launch the brand in India. Ravissant is a corporate affiliate of Ravishing Style, an existing franchisee of Supercuts. The agreement has Ravishing Style open no fewer than 100 salons within five years. Along with Supercuts, Regis also operates concepts such as SmartStyle, Cost Cutters, Roosters and First Choice Haircutters. Regis has 4,863 locations in total, with more than 2,000 Supercuts locations.
