Capital Tacos, DripBar and More Push Multi-unit Franchise Expansion | Franchise News


Emerging Tex-Mex concept Capital Tacos signed an agreement with father-daughter business team Jason and Marilyn Scoby for three units in the Boulder, Colorado, area. The first unit is expected to open in early 2023. Jason Scoby, a Navy veteran, brings experience in industrial plant operations and management while Marilyn Scoby has worked in restaurants since she was a teenager and was most recently an executive sous chef at area restaurants. Capital Tacos has five locations open in Florida, along with three virtual kitchens.

WaBa Grill, a rice bowl concept, signed a deal for 10 units in the Dallas-Fort Worth area with Hilario Raygoza. An existing franchisee, Raygoza operates five WaBa Grill locations in California. Founded in 2006, WaBa Grill now has nearly 200 units.

Rise Southern Biscuits and Righteous Chicken signed a 20-unit deal for the Dallas area with new franchisees Ashwin Reddy and Isha Vedire. Reddy and Vedire previously built a large outpatient behavioral practice that expanded to seven locations. Now in its 10th year, Rise has 17 locations in seven states.

American Freight signed a deal with entrepreneur James Day to open seven locations across the state of Texas. Day is already a multi-unit operator of several other businesses in the automotive, real estate, charter jet, hospitality and furniture industries. American Freight began franchising in 2021 and has signed 10 agreements in total for 41 new locations.

Brooklyn Dumpling Shop inked a five-unit deal to expand in North Carolina. The agreement is with husband-and-wife duo Kirk and Mounia Hylton, who plan to open stores in Cary, Chapel Hill, Fayetteville, Durham and Raleigh. Since its launch in New York City’s East Village in May 2021, Brooklyn Dumpling Shop has expanded to four locations.

Electronics retail brand PayMore signed an agreement with entrepreneurs Johnny and Michelle Castellon for three units in Palm Beach, Florida. PayMore was founded in 2011 and has four locations open with another set to open this winter.

DripBar, an IV nutrient therapy brand, signed a deal with Rebecca Ko to open 10 locations in Ohio. Ko is a multi-unit operator of Orangetheory Fitness with three locations. Founded in 2016, DripBar began franchising in 2019 and now has 30 units. 

International Franchise News

Xponential Fitness signed a master franchise agreement in Kuwait for its Rumble, Club Pilates, StretchLab and CycleBar brands. The deal is with Aqarat, a Kuwait real estate company, which agreed to develop at least eight studios over the initial 10-year term of the agreement. Aqarat also has investments and joint venture agreements with hospitality brands Yotel, Courtyard by Marriott and IFA Hotels and Resorts.
