Christine Brown & David Woolley Have An Unhealthy Relationship (Red Flags Were Missed)

Star of Sister Wives, Christine Brown, has remained a driving force in the gradual downfall of the once plural marriage. Christine, as the third wife of patriarch, Kody Brown, has been vocal about the unfair dynamics among the four wives. Before her introduction to the large family, Kody was married to Meri and Janelle Brown, respectively. Robyn Brown, the fourth wife, was the latest addition. Notably, Kody and Robyn’s marriage, unlike the others, is not just a “spiritual” marriage but legally binding.

Once Robyn was introduced, the biases within the family became more evident. As Kody dedicated more time and energy to the fourth wife, the others felt that their relationships, and their children’s relationship with Kody, were neglected. Christine was the first to leave Kody in 2021, with Meri and Janelle opting to divorce the patriarch in the following years. By Sister Wives season 19, it’s become apparent that the divorces were beneficial for the liberated women. Although Christine seems to be happier than ever with a new partner, her relationship seems similarly unhealthy.

Christine And David Moved Too Quickly

Christine Hardly Recovered From Her Last Relationship

Christine met David Woolley, her now husband, in February 2023. Two months of dating later, in April 2023, David proposed to the reality TV star. Six months later, the pair had gotten married. Christine was with her ex-husband Kody Brown for over 25 years before the eventual divorce. While the two are clearly sure of one another, the mother of six arguably rushed into a whirlwind romance with her new man.

While Christine is undoubtedly much more fulfilled, unfortunately, her resentment towards her ex has been exhibited throughout this romance.

While she seems to have a clear vision of her future, the two-year hiatus from dating has not changed her sentiment regarding Kody. From relationship posts to subtle jabs on the show, Christine has done everything to prove to Kody that she is happier without him. In a September 2024 post on Christine’s Instagram, she shared a collage of her and David with the caption, “ Every day, I’m reminded that love truly can be better than I ever imagined.” While Christine is undoubtedly much more fulfilled, unfortunately, her resentment for her ex has been exhibited throughout this romance.

Christine’s children have expressed their apprehension regarding the relationship. In May 2023, Christine’s son, Paedon Brown, questioned their fast development and shared that the couple would not receive his blessing. Her daughter, Ysabel Brown, pointed out her concerns as well. To avoid upsetting his mother, Paedon offered, “Mom, acknowledging it’s going fast isn’t us telling you that it’s bad. It’s just us being observant.” While the family was overjoyed to see their mother meet her match, her extensive trauma from Kody and teen-like nativity with David raised some red flags.

Christine Let Her Resentment Affect The Marriage Ceremony

Christine Isn’t Ready To Move On

In an October 2024 episode, as Christine and David planned their wedding, Christine revealed that several people would not be invited to the ceremony. The unwelcome parties included Kody, Robyn, and Meri.

Christine shared,
“We’ll invite Janelle to our wedding, Janelle’s kids’ … ‘I am not ready to be around Meri and Robyn and Kody yet.”

The drama harbored in the plural marriage had seeped into Christine and David’s wedding. While Christine’s ultimate goal may have been moving forward, it seems her previous involvements have remained at the forefront of her mind.

Sister Wives’ Christine Brown may have been the first to leave her toxic relationship but she hasn’t fully left the past behind her. Throughout her seemingly perfect relationship with David, her previous trauma has led her to rush into another relationship, ignore the advice of loved ones, and cut others off. It seems that forgiveness and acceptance may be the best developments for Christine’s independence. If she does not let go of her bitterness, it could affect her relationships indefinitely.
