American Horror Story season 13 will arrive on the back of over a decade of disturbing small-screen terror, and there’s already speculation on what comes next. Starting with season 1 (now referred to as Murder House) in 2011, each season of American Horror Story takes the show to a different setting with the ensemble cast portraying new roles. AHS: Delicate took the franchise in another new direction by adapting a book for the first time, Delicate Condition by Danielle Valentine. American Horror Story could go anywhere, which makes AHS season 13 all the more exciting as a prospect.
There are plenty of ideas from prior seasons that never materialized, all of which could potentially become American Horror Story season 13. Ryan Murphy’s anthology horror show was renewed up to a 13th season, so Delicate is by no means the end. While a release date confirmation likely won’t come until after the current run is concluded there’s still much to digest for American Horror Story season 13, who the cast could play in the next chapter of the anthology horror show, and — most importantly – which terrifying setting the FX show will explore next.

American Horror Story
hasn’t aired
After months and months of radio silence regarding the already-confirmed next season, the latest news sees Ryan Murphy offering an update on American Horror Story season 13. The TV maven spoke to The Hollywood Reporter in October 2024, and dropped some major hints about what’s coming soon. When asked about the show’s return, Murphy said “You know, that’s an interesting question. I was talking to Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters about that the other day, so maybe sooner than you think.“
2024’s fall season is the first time since the show’s debut in 2011 that a season of American Horror Story hasn’t aired, but Murphy’s tease has fanned the flames of speculation. Though nothing is confirmed, his dropping of the names Peters and Paulson suggests the actors could make their first return to the franchise since season 10. However, nothing is confirmed yet.

American Horror Story Has Been Renewed For Season 13
Season 13 Was Renewed Years Ago
American Horror Story season 13 is confirmed, although the announcement came several years ago. It was announced in 2020 (via Entertainment Weekly) that American Horror Story — at the time on season 9, American Horror Story: 1984 — had been renewed for seasons 10-13. There haven’t been any specific updates on season 13 since, but since both the 11th and 12th seasons have arrived as planned, there’s no reason to presume FX has reversed their multi-season order.
American Horror Story
season 12 part 2 concluded on April 24, 2024.
American Horror Story Season 13 Cast
Who Could Appear In Season 13?
There’s no confirmed cast for American Horror Story season 13, but there are some candidates who could appear since Ryan Murphy has kept a steady ensemble cast throughout most of AHS. Emma Roberts made her return to the show for Delicate, and it’s possible she could return for American Horror Story season 13. Zachary Quinto, another mainstay in the earlier seasons, was present in both Delicate and season 11.
New cast members introduced in Delicate could become regular cast members with a role in the American Horror Story season 13 cast. Kim Kardashian controversially landed a role in Delicate, and she could very well find herself as part of the American Horror Story season 13. Ryan Murphy himself offered a bit of a casting tease in October 2024 when he name-dropped Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters in an interview. Both were mainstays of the show’s firs decade, but haven’t been seen since season 10.
American Horror Story Season 13 Plot & Setting Details
What Horror Story Will The Anthology Tackle Next?
The narrative and setting of each season of American Horror Story have always been the key talking points for the show – and there have been no hints to the setting for American Horror Story season 13. It could go anywhere, especially since Delicate broke the formula by adapting a book. Each season has had a different theme, from carnivals and asylums to the horror and paranoia of the 1980s AIDs pandemic in New York. There have been many possible American Horror Story themes put forward over the years by both Murphy and fans.
Some ideas have included the Wild West, a subway or cruise ship, or an orphanage or boarding school. All of these have gained traction in various fan circles, but so far, Ryan Murphy and FX have remained tight-lipped about the American Horror Story season 13 story. Additionally, some prior seasons, such as Double Feature, Cult, and Delicate, have explored themes rather than specific locations. It could be that when American Horror Story season 13 arrives it is once more based on an idea or concept rather than a setting.
