Diablo 4 Fans Claim There May Be A “Huge Drop Off Of Players” After Spiritborn Class Changes

The Spiritborn class has been getting a lot of attention in Diablo 4, and Blizzard is addressing and patching a known bug with the Evade build. While fixing a bug is not usually a game-breaking issue, the Evade build is highly acclaimed by many, making some fans wonder if it’s a simple patch or a nerf.

In a recent X post from community lead Adam Fletcher, also known as @PezRadar, the developers noticed a bug at the heart of the Spiritborn’s Evade cast animations, causing some players to use it to their advantage. The bug is said to be able to break animation frames during Evade, making Evade castable in rapid succession. This bug will be patched out, making the standard Evade cast rate present in all situations, stopping players from exploiting the known glitch.

While most bugs and glitches are thrown into the mix of other hotfixes during the next patch day, Blizzard wanted to fix this build exploit as soon as possible. As mentioned by Fletcher in the X post, when a bug begins to impair and negatively impact players in-game, they will make changes with haste. While some fans are happy to see this “broken” build put to rest, others are claiming this is more of a nerf than a simple bug fix.

Diablo 4 Players Are Calling For A Much Better Fix Than A Spiritborn Nerf

Diablo 4 players can’t seem to get enough of the new Spiritborn class, but it seems that the balance is off, causing an uproar from the community.

In a comment left by @securefpsttv on X, they state, “How is it affecting other players exactly ? I see no way this affects anyone in game other than people with nothing better to do than complain.” Fletcher did respond to this comment, making sure to note that this Evade bug has been brought to light a multitude of times and was an animation-breaking glitch. Another commenter known as @Dabatsau states, “Glad I finished the season already then, will see a huge drop off of players due to this change.”

Our Take: Should Blizzard Listen To The Fans Feedback On Nerfs?

This Is A Bug Fix, Not A Nerf

Though there are definitely instances of Blizzard nerfing classes in Diablo 4 to bring more balance, this case appears to be a bit different. Rather than taking a build away due to its sheer power, they are removing a glitch that was not intended to be used and exploited to wreak havoc throughout Sanctuary. While some fans are disappointed, others are happy with this fix, as it can negatively impact players who are not playing the Spiritborn class.

Find out which builds top the chart in Season 6 of Diablo 4, and which ones may be runners-up but still give you a satisfying experience.

There are a plethora of builds to utilize and still have fun with, so while some players might miss the whirlwind feel of the Evade build for now, other builds will come to light that can be just as powerful and fun. Nerfing is not always the answer, though, as some classes should simply be brought up to speed to keep up with those who seem to be above the rest. Hopefully, this Evade bug fix is left at just that, and does not end up taking away more features from the Spiritborn class in Diablo 4 overall.
