Everything Revealed About Arceus And The Pokémon Universe Creation Myth

The massive Game Freak data leak has revealed an incredible amount of information regarding the mainline games in the Pokémon franchise. One of the most surprising revelations surrounds the Mythical Pokémon Arceus, who is seen as an almighty deity in the Pokémon universe. Recent posts that have circulated online have just revealed some never-before-seen information regarding the origins of Arceus, as well as the creation of the Pokémon universe itself.

The prominent Pokémon leaker known as CentroLeaks on X (formerly Twitter) has been sharing a bunch of new, previously unreleased Pokémon content ever since the news of the leak first broke out. They have shared a lengthy post that details the origins of Arceus, simultaneously offering insights into the pasts of numerous iconic Legendary Pokémon and the roles they played in creating the universe as it is today. It is all truly fascinating, and it could potentially hint at things to come for upcoming game releases.

The Origins Of Arceus And The Universe, Explained

Arceus Is Behind The Existence Of Everything

According to the post by CentroLeaks, the Pokémon universe started out as nothing more than a swirling “vortex of chaos,” and it is from this chaos that a singular egg emerged. From this egg hatched a being called “Aus,” also known as Arceus. The remaining fragments of Arceus’ egg eventually transformed into fearsome “Giants,” whom Arceus managed to defeat in an intense battle before splitting into multiple beings named Ia and Ea, who became Dialga and Palkia respectively.

Giratina was not created before the leaked document was made, so it is not referenced anywhere in this creation myth.

These Legendary Pokémon soon created the Lake Guardian Trio of Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf, who proceeded to create a planet. Dialga ended up making the creatures known as Pokémon, while Palkia created humans, who in turn were gifted a seed called the “Seed of Life.” The seed grew to become a magnificent tree, but it eventually grew to be too large and began to overtake the entire planet.

As a solution, Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza were created to destroy the tree, so all life on the planet could roam freely. The fragments of the demolished tree then formed the ocean, land, and sky, which the weather trio each held individual domain over. Thanks to this, the entire planet became habitable for all its residents, allowing humans and Pokémon alike to thrive and eventually live together in harmony.

The Meaning Behind Arceus’ Mysterious Sigil

Players Finally Have Some Answers To This Decade-Long Mystery

In Pokémon Heart Gold & Soul Silver, there was a special event surrounding Arceus in the Ruins of Alph. Taking Arceus to this location causes a giant, mysterious sigil to appear on the ground, followed by a bizarre sequence of flashing images. Once everything is over, Cynthia explains to the player that Arceus has the ability to create “newborn Pokémon,” and the player is rewarded with a Level 1 Dialga, Palkia, or Giratina.

This sigil has amazed and confused players for years, but the recent leaks have finally provided some further insight into its meaning. The diagram revealed by CentroLeaks reveals Arceus, Dialga, and Palkia in the center as the creators of the universe, with Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza surrounding them as the pillars of the land, sea, and sky. The rest of the diagram then shows the various connections to numerous other Legendary and Mythical Pokémon, including Ho-oh, Lugia, and Regigigas.

Interestingly enough, there are also numerous Pokémon in the diagram that aren’t legendary or mythical Pokémon. Some slightly more common Pokémon such as Tyranitar, Metagross, and Dragonite are all present in the diagram, despite being only considered “pseudo-Legendaries.” Unfortunately, CentroLeaks’ post makes no mention of why these Pokémon are listed, making their presence on the diagram a lingering mystery.

Who The Mysterious “Giants” Could Be

There Are Numerous Terrifying Contenders For The Myth’s Giants

Although the leak post doesn’t explicitly state who these so-called “Giants” were, there are numerous possibilities among the various other legendary Pokémon that currently exist. One very likely contender could be Eternatus from Pokémon Sword and Shield, who was said to have arrived in the Galar region by falling from space. With immense and terrifying power known to bring about The Darkest Day, an apocalypse-level disaster, it would make sense for Arceus to have fought it at some point in the past.

Another contender could be Necrozma from Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, a creature who is also known to reside in space. Although Necrozma was originally a benevolent ancient being, it eventually grew vicious during its ventures across various dimensions in Ultra Space. With enough power to absorb all the light from a single universe, Necrozma would be an immensely powerful foe for Arceus to fight.

One final possibility could be the original dragon that consists of Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem. It was said that Kyurem crashed into Unova as it fell from space in a meteorite, implying that it originated from the same place as the giants. Considering how powerful such a fusion of these three dragons could be, it would make sense to call the original dragon a giant.

What These Leaks Could Mean For Pokémon Legends Z-A

A Possibility For Further Insight Into This Creation Myth

Although it is uncertain whether Arceus will even make an appearance in Pokémon Legends Z-A, this leak could provide some insight into the story that awaits players in the highly-anticipated upcoming spin-off game. Specifically, the fact that humans were given a seed of life that produced a giant tree is important, as Xerneas is the one legendary Pokémon most associated with granting life, and its dormant form resembles a large tree. With this information in mind, this could imply that Legends Z-A could potentially hint at more information regarding Xerneas’ role in the early years of the Pokémon universe.

With so much lore across numerous titles, it is shocking that an in-depth glimpse into the Mythical and Legendary Pokémon’s roles in creating the universe. Despite the unfortunate nature of these leaks, it is undeniable that the information found within them is utterly fascinating. Hopefully, Game Freak will consider diving deeper into this subject as more Pokémon games are developed over the years.
