On Monday, April 8, a total solar eclipse will cross North America, allowing millions of people the rare opportunity to witness it. There has been a fervor of sorts among Americans booking planes and renting hotel rooms in cities across the nation that will offer the best views.
Never underestimate franchise brands’ ability to capitalize on a good ol’ frenzy. Franchises offering eclipse deals include:
• Krispy Kreme has a Total Solar Eclipse donut, with black chocolate frosting and sliver sprinkles. Can anyone say buttercream?
• Not to be outdone, Tim Hortons has its own solar eclipse donut, which is shaped like a crescent moon.
• Hot Head Burritos is offering free chips with any purchase on eclipse day.
• Burger King will offer buy-one, get-one Whopper deal for loyalty club members.
• Jack in the Box also offers a BOGO of its Jumbo Jack burger to loyalty club members.
• Pizza Hut has “Total Eclipse of the Hut” deals, including a $12 pizza on April 8.
• Applebee’s franchisee Flynn Group’s locations will offer the Perfect Eclipse Margarita, which includes too many flavored syrups to mention here. The special will be available through April 14.

• Marco’s Pizza is offering 50 percent off pizzas ordered online and through the app.
• Smoothie King will offer the Eclipse Berry Blitz smoothie, made with lemon juice, bananas, blueberries, apples and blue spirulina, a blue-green algae powder.
