How To Get Leda’s Sword (Shadow Of The Erdtree)

Getting Leda’s Sword in the Elden RingShadow of the Erdtree DLC requires finishing a large portion of the new content and progressing past a point where new players should not yet venture. It is a great end-game weapon, but one that you will not be able to get your hands on early. In fact, this sword cannot be obtained until you have passed the point of no return.

[Warning: The following article contains spoilers for Elden Ring’s Shadow of Erdtree DLC.]

There is a soft, unspoken point of no return in Shadow of the Erdtree DLC that some players have found themselves frustrated by. There is no real warning for this being the event that cuts off your ability to continue doing side quests and looking for more loot. This tipping point is reached once you have beaten Romina Saint of the Bud, so you have to be cautious of what you do next.

Finding Leda’s Sword

Past The Point Of No Return

Leda has a fairly long questline as part of the new content delivered with the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. You must have finished stage 2 of her questline before the point of no return comes, so if you have beaten Romina, go back and advance Needle Knight Leda’s questline until you have had to decide between fighting her or assisting her. This is as far as you can go until the next point.

After Romina has been defeated, you will then have the option to burn the Sealing Tree, which is the exact point of no return. You will no longer be able to complete side quests or do anything significant until the main story has been completed.

At this point, you will want to reach Needle Knight Leda’s location in Enir-llim. Once you do, there are a range of different options as to what is about to happen, depending on the choices you made all along the questline. The exact location is shown by ZaFrostPet in the video above.

Even if you have sided with Leda up until now, she will still decide you are a threat, and you will be forced to face her. Unfortunately, if you have done so, you will
no longer have any allies
to summon to help you.

You will end up fighting Leda whether alone or with allies, and it is that boss fight in Elden Ring that will give you Leda’s Sword. She will also drop her armor, and you will then have to continue to face the final boss of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. If you have a strong Dexterity/Faith build, this might just be the weapon you take with you into that fight.

The character gaining Leda's Sword in Elden Ring

Similar to weapons like the Star-Lined Sword in Elden Ring, Leda’s Sword is a new weapon type that has not been featured until now. This means that there is something new and unique to this version of the weapon as opposed to what it was based on in the main game.

For instance, Leda’s Sword is something called a Light Greatsword, While previously Greatswords were heavy and made for Strength-only builds, the new Light Greatswords add some levity, slightly reducing the damage while keeping the range and adding a fair amount of scaling for Dexterity.

You will need a higher Dexterity than Strength score for this weapon, as it requires having 22 in Dexterity, 19 in Faith, and 11 in Strength. It will continue to scale in Dexterity, but it will also add a level to Strength by the time it gets to Level 10. You can upgrade it by using Somber Smithing Stones , which are found throughout the world and can be purchased from certain merchants as well.

As you can see, this weapon also deals with a significant amount of Holy Damage in addition to regular damage, which is why players will need a higher Faith score. It does not have a passive ability, but the damage that both of these attributes will do is quite incredible on their own. And the Guard/Damage reduction abilities are also quite high for a primarily Dexterity-focused weapon.

Rather than equipping an Ash of War, Leda’s Sword has a unique ability called Needle Piercer, which cannot be changed. This ability causes ten gold needles to generate from the sword and pierce their target all at once.

This is a significant extra bit of damage on Leda’s Sword, but it does cost a hefty toll of 19 FP. That being said, the target loses all ailments and special effects when they are hit by the Needle Piercer, making it a very handy way to debuff any enemy.

While it is unfortunate that players will not get to use Leda’s Sword for very long as they draw close to the final chapters of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, you may still find that you are using it as you roam around after the main story completes. Or it might be exactly the right weapon for your build as you head into New Game+.

You will confront Leda no matter what, so this sword is a great reward to find as you draw closer to the end of the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.
