Fortnite is making a big shift in how XP is earned across all its passes. This change will allow players to enjoy the game with more freedom than previously since they’ll no longer need to play specific modes to gain XP in them.
According to the Fortnite website, the new system will have players gaining XP for all passes at the same time on a single track, no matter what type of experience they participate in. The Music Pass (previously called the Festival Pass) will make this change on November 2, with the Fortnite Festival Season 6. The LEGO Pass will follow suit on December 1, with changes applied to the Brick or Treat LEGO Pass. The website states that “by December 1, all passes in Fortnite will progress simultaneously by earning XP from playing any experience.“
All Passes In Fortnite Will Progress Simultaneously
Fans No Longer Need To Play The Specific Modes
Fortnite has several modes for fans to enjoy, but some of them are more popular than others. Previously, only the Battle Royale Battle Pass allowed players to gain XP from any experience, no matter what mode they were in. Now Epic will be bringing the same system to its other Passes, which will allow fans to subscribe to the passes and unlock the rewards without having to actually play the modes they’re associated with.

Leaked Black Friday Deal Is Great News For PS5 And Fortnite Fans
A Black Friday deal has leaked over month early and it’s good news for any Fortnite fans who have been thinking of buying a PlayStation 5.
Epic’s decision to change the way the Passes work may indicate that the company is not selling as many Music or LEGO premium passes as they’d like to. Many fans simply preferred to play other modes and not be stuck in the specific modes needed to progress through the reward tiers. Now that XP will be gained from any mode across all the Passes, more players might buy into the experience.
Exclusive Rewards Will Not Be As Exclusive
This Puts Pressure On Epic To Entice Players To Subscribe
This isn’t the first big change that Epic has brought to the game’s systems recently. A few months ago, Epic announced that Battle Pass-exclusive Fortnite skins may appear on the in-game shop 18 months after they’re featured. It seems that Epic is shaking things up for players by constantly changing the systems.
This can be both a good and bad move. On one hand, fans now have the potential chance to snag old skins they may have missed if they happen to reappear in the store. On the other hand, Epic will have to continue giving players plenty of incentives for fans to continue paying for Battle Passes. This puts a lot of pressure on the company, which has had some hit-or-miss designs in recent chapters. The newest changes in the Fortnite system will completely roll out across all its Battle Passes by December 1.
