Hulk’s Most R-Rated Attack is Finally Matched By Colossus (in A Fight You Won’t Be Able to Unsee)

Warning: Contains spoilers for Wolverine: Revenge #3!!

Colossus is a mutant powerhouse, but even his physical abilities and organic steel body don’t typically make him Hulk’s equal. One alternate reality fight with Wolverine has, at last, revealed that Piotr Rasputin rivals the Incredible Hulk in strength after he completes one of the green Avenger’s more controversial feats. By ripping one of Logan’s arms off, Colossus becomes one of only three beings capable of tearing Wolverine to pieces.

Wolverine: Revenge #3 brings the confrontation Wolverine has waited for. After killing the rest of the Brotherhood, he finds his former friend, Piotr Rasputin, to end things completely. Their shared history wasn’t enough to keep Colossus fighting for the good guys, just as it isn’t enough for Logan to spare his old comrade’s life.

Colossus Pulls Off Wolverine's Arm

Taking Colossus down is anything but easy, however, as the fight opens with Piotr pulling a stunt that was a stretch even for the Hulk. As Wolverine struggles to find his footing, Colossus rips his right arm off, exposing the adamantium-covered bone and his own incredible strength.

Wolverine ripped in half by the Hulk in Marvel Comics

Along with Wolverine’s ultra-powerful healing factor, the adamantium coating that covers his skeleton helps him survive unimaginable injuries. Few things can truly damage adamantium, let alone tap into the raw strength needed to rend it apart. Wolverine first suffered that gory fate in Ultimate Wolverine vs. Hulk, when Hulk literally tore him in two. Hulk is easily one of the strongest beings in the Marvel Universe, yet tearing apart adamantium was a surprise even for him. An encounter with a Wendigo in Wolverine #37 offered a repeat performance, meaning Colossus now joins a small – but terrifying – group of three.

Though it came at the expense of his former friend, this feat is a considerable power upgrade for Colossus. He’s one of Marvel’s best heavy hitters, but rivaling the Hulk makes him indisputably an A-List powerhouse. Many of Piotr’s greatest moments are the result of self-sacrifice and a soft heart, but this time it’s physical ability and sheer violence. The move shows just how far he’s fallen, as he went from being the “heart” of the X-men to easily pulling a friend apart. Colossus performed the grotesque move with such ease that Wolverine’s adamantium looked like mere scrap metal.

Colossus Has Hulk-Level Strength but Still Can’t Kill Wolverine

Wolverine Reattaches His Arm

In their fight, Colossus did not go nearly as far as Hulk or Wendigo. He took an arm, rather than pulling Wolverine in half, and consequently didn’t make enough impact. As stomach-turning as the injury was, it didn’t keep Logan down for long – or practically at all. It’s still a nod to just how strong Piotr truly is, and presumably he would have that same raw strength in the main timeline. It wasn’t enough to end his friend’s life, but it showed a new side of the Russian mutant. By tearing Wolverine’s adamantium skeleton, Colossus proved that he rivals the Hulk in strength.

Wolverine: Revenge #3 is available now from Marvel Comics.
