NEWS | African Bank Paid Up Letters Take A Few Days

When a consumer would like their record of being under debt review removed from the credit bureaus a Debt Counsellor needs to issue a Form 19.

To do so, the credit bureaus demand proof that accounts have been paid up from all the consumer’s credit providers (not in the Act but what the NCR has suggested they do). So, the Debt Counsellor will approach all credit providers and get those ‘paid up’ letters.

Please note that African Bank wait 14 days after getting their last payment before they issue a paid up letter. They want to make sure the payment is not reversed or something.

Consumers should keep this delay in mind when waiting for their Clearance Certificates.
