Mob Entertainment has finally begun to reveal new information regarding the upcoming fourth chapter of its hit indie game Poppy Playtime. Although a specific date has yet to be announced, Poppy Playtime Chapter 4 is confirmed for a January 2025 release date on Steam, making it set to arrive just after the holiday season. The arrival of this latest chapter is very exciting, as the developers have stated that it will be the darkest chapter of Poppy Playtime so far, providing a thrilling continuation to the gripping story with lots of scary imagery and narrative developments.

The video shows the expansive halls of the factory, its floors littered with boxes and covered in dirt and blood. The most unsettling image in said teaser trailer is the final shot revealing giant mounds of torn-up toys which, as revealed in previous chapters, were all once children who were turned into stuffed animals, further adding to the horror of this situation.

What few toys that are shown to be wandering the halls are clearly dirty and disheveled, acting in an incredibly feral manner as they violently attack and eat each other. It seems that the transformed children that are trapped in the lower levels of the factory have completely lost their sense of humanity after being turned into toys, and have since resorted to tearing each other apart as they give in to darker thoughts. It is clear that players will be coming face-to-face with these feral toys as they explore, and must avoid meeting a similar horrific fate.

Mob Entertainment Reveals Baba Chops

Besides the familiar faces from previous chapters, Poppy Playtime Chapter 4 has revealed some new monsters that players will encounter during the course of the story. The teaser trailer shows a small black sheep toy attacking a helpless DogDay, ripping it apart before staring directly at the viewer with an unsettling smile as it is revealed to be surrounded by the scattered corpses of various other toys. Although the Steam page has made mention of players being able to gain brand-new allies, this sheep is seemingly not going to be one of them.

After the release of the teaser trailer, images were uploaded to X (formerly Twitter) by Mob Entertainment, revealing more information about this new monster, including its name and personality. The sheep is simply known as Baba Chops, and she is a member of a new group of toys known as the Nightmare Critters. Although she seems to prefer being isolated from others, the teaser trailer clearly shows that she is not afraid to lash out and attack if provoked.

Baba Chops is not the only new critter that players will need to watch out for, as she is described by Mob Entertainment as having “very persistent friends.” More members of the Nightmare Critters are being revealed every day, with each one bringing their own unique personality and unsettling appearance to the table. It will only be a matter of time before the entire new cast of characters and what they are capable of is finally revealed, but it is clear from this small glimpse at Baba Chops alone that they will all be incredibly unsettling and dangerous.

Although much of the new puzzle gameplay has yet to be revealed, some new images that were recently uploaded to the game’s Steam page offer a sneak peek at what’s to come. The image shows multiple platforms over a large crevasse, with hand panels on them.
