Summary

  • Dreamer forms a powerful bond with Bizarro.
  • Dreamer’s addition to the Outlaws could revolutionize the team with her powerful abilities.
  • Suicide Squad: Dream Team #4 is available now from DC Comics.

Warning! Spoilers ahead for Suicide Squad: Dream Team #4!After a few years away, it’s time for Red Hood to bring his Outlaws team back together and include one powerful new hero. Jason Todd made a name for himself with his unique band of outsider heroes. As one mighty hero rises, a place on Red Hood’s team could be the perfect place for them.

In Suicide Squad: Dream Team #4 by Nicole Maines and Eddy Barrows, Dreamer has been captured by Task Force X and is being hauled back on a plane to Gamorra to rejoin Amanda Waller. While in the team’s clutches, Dreamer makes a heartfelt appeal to Superman’s backward clone, Bizarro.

Bizarro Rescues Dreamer DC

Dreamer’s words get through to Bizarro, who attacks his teammates and frees Dreamer from her bindings. Dreamer safely ejects the plane’s pilot and sets the aircraft on a collision course with Waller’s new prison. As Dreamer falls, she’s caught by Bizarro, who tries to get Dreamer to safety.

After Jason Todd returned and donned the Red Hood identity, the New 52 gave him the chance to lead his very first team book. Red Hood and the Outlaws starred a trio of heroes including Jason, Arsenal, and Starfire. The book lasted for nearly the entirety of the New 52 before it was canceled. But with the arrival of DC Rebirth, Red Hood and the Outlaws was brought back, only with a new cast. Now Red Hood was partnered with Wonder Woman’s ally Artemis and Superman’s clone Bizarro to form a sort of dark reflection of DC Comics’ Trinity.

Dreamer is pretty new to the DC Universe and has yet to meet Red Hood (or Artemis for that matter). But she seems to get along great with Bizarro, whom Jason was quite fond of when they were in the Outlaws together. While Bizarro unfortunately doesn’t make it out of Suicide Squad: Dream Team alive, Dreamer is left standing, albeit still under Amanda Waller’s thumb. But that’s not going to last forever and once she’s out she’s going to need a new crew to join. Given her past with Superman’s clone, why not bring Dreamer together with Bizarro’s old teammates?

Dreamer Could Revolutionize Red Hood’s Outlaws

Dreamer has yet to be officially placed on a team. And while she would do great on a team like the Titans or even the Justice League, the Outlaws could be a good avenue for her. With Bizarro gone, the Outlaws could use someone with serious firepower (and Dreamer is certainly quite powerful). And Dreamer could really use some allies that aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty and be willing to go up against people like Amanda Waller. While there’s no guarantee it’ll happen, bringing Dreamer into Red Hood’s Outlaws could make for an interesting story.
