American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy has teased the return of two original stars for new episodes in season 13, hinting at when the show is going to return. The horror anthology series is best known for having familiar actors in different roles throughout every season, despite the stories being told taking place within the same terrifying universe. The cast of American Horror Story season 12, subtitled Delicate, saw the return of stars like Emma Roberts, Denis O’Hare, and Zachary Quinto, all of whom have appeared as different characters across multiple seasons of the show.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter (via TVLine), Murphy teased that Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson might be coming back for American Horror Story season 13. Hinting the next season is going to come out “sooner than you think,” the series creator hinted at the return of both stars, who have been coming back to play new characters since season 1, Murder House. However, the showrunner didn’t confirm if the pair would be coming back for certain, nor reveal any details about what the new episodes are going to be about.
What Evan Peters & Sarah Paulson Mean For American Horror Story Season 13
FX Has Only Renewed The Show Through This Upcoming Season
Peters and Paulson have both appeared in almost every season of American Horror Story, having both been absent only during season 9, 1984, season 11, NYC, and season 12, Delicate. Given the longevity of their time with the series, it makes sense for them to come back during season 13, which is the last season FX has renewed the show for as of writing. While this doesn’t necessarily make it the final season of the show, the lack of a guaranteed continuation means it makes sense for some of its oldest and most recurring stars to appear.
American Horror Story season 13’s story also hasn’t been revealed, although Murphy has expressed interest in creating a follow-up to Coven and Apocalypse about the witches. This could mean Paulson reprising her role as Cordelia Goode, with Peters possibly returning as Kyle Spencer, or a wholly original character. Since the show’s seasons have been more standalone since Apocalypse, though, it could be that they’ll both be playing new roles in a story that’s removed from everything that’s come before.

Our Take On Peters & Paulson Possibly Returning For American Horror Story Season 13
It Could Be A Good Sendoff For The Show (If It Doesn’t Get Renewed)
While it’s still unclear if American Horror Story season 13 will be the final season of the show, bringing back Peters and Paulson could make for the perfect sendoff if it winds up being the end. Because they’ve had the most credits within the series so far, it would be fitting for them to also be the ones who bring it to a close. However, since there’s still a possibility for even more episodes in the future, perhaps this will simply be the start of a new beginning for the franchise.
