Rumors that Star Wars will bring fan-favorite Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order character Cal Kestis to the small screen in a live-action TV show have been intensifying, and this would be a wise direction for the franchise to take for myriad reasons. Cal Kestis has appeared in both Fallen Order and its sequel, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and while these games are canon, he has yet to make the jump to Star Wars’ movies and TV shows. Audiences have long hoped this announcement is coming, though, as Cal Kestis is easily one of the most beloved characters in the franchise.
With Star Wars’ TV future now in question, this would be the perfect time for Star Wars to make this move. The Acolyte’s cancelation in particular revealed the massive rifts in the fanbase, although tensions extend far beyond just that show. Star Wars has struggled with controversy, backlash, and issues like review-bombing for years. Could a Cal Kestis TV show be the exact solution the franchise needs right now?
Cal Kestis Is Rumored To Be Getting A Live-Action Debut
This is not the first time rumors about Cal Kestis’ impending live-action debut have circulated in the franchise. No doubt because the character is so popular, this possibility has been a conversation for years. Recently, however, these rumors have been growing louder and more prevalent, and they have specifically begun to hone in on the likelihood that this live-action introduction would take place in a TV show featuring Cal Kestis as the lead.
This makes particular sense at the present moment, given that the list of Star Wars’ upcoming TV shows is as thin as it’s been in quite some time. Currently, only Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, Andor season 2, and Ahsoka season 2 are confirmed. Star Wars Celebration 2025 is just around the corner, which will certainly see the announcement of multiple upcoming shows and movies. In light of how few shows are currently in Star Wars’ official line-up, a Cal Kestis show could easily be among them.
A Beloved Character Could Unite The Fanbase
It is truly a shame, but Star Wars has undeniably been struggling as of late. The response to The Acolyte was an excellent example of how divisive the fanbase has become, and while that stems from various issues (among them a permeating, recurrent issue with racism and misogyny in the fanbase), it doesn’t bode well for the future. There are of course many viewers who have loved Star Wars’ recent projects, for good reason, but it remains true that the franchise needs to do something to address how hostile things have become.
While this will undoubtedly also require Star Wars to address its biggest problem—vitriol and toxicity that has overtaken the fanbase—bringing a character like Cal Kestis, who is nearly universally beloved, to live-action would be a brilliant way to get the franchise back on track. This could be a way to unify some of the fractures in the fanbase and get audiences excited. Star Wars would still have its obstacles, and even a Cal Kestis show would likely face backlash and controversy, but it would almost certainly be a widely popular decision.

Is Cal Kestis Getting A Live-Action Project?
Although Star Wars hasn’t announced a live-action Cal Kestis TV show yet, it does feel as though it’s only a matter of time. Fallen Order and Survivor are canon and take place during the Dark Times in the Star Wars timeline. This means that Cal’s story could connect to various other Star Wars characters’ stories. This could prove especially interesting given Cal is one of the few Jedi survivors of Order 66, making the story possibilities in a live-action TV show seemingly endless.

Story possibilities aren’t the only determining factor, nor can they guarantee Star Wars will create a show or movie. This is only one part of the equation that makes a Cal Kestis TV show seem quite likely, though. Another factor of equal if not more importance is that the actor who voices Cal Kestis in Fallen Order and Survivor and served as inspiration for the character’s design, Cameron Monaghan, has expressed interest in taking on the live-action role.
With the actor on board, the fan base enthusiastic about the character, and the story possibilities available, it does seem more likely than not that a Cal Kestis TV show will eventually be announced. It’s impossible to say for sure until Star Wars confirms the project is in the works, and the rumors could currently be baseless, but several signs suggest otherwise. Cal Kestis’ Star Wars story could therefore truly be coming to the small screen in a live-action TV show, which would likely be a promising turn for the franchise.
