The SweatHouz franchise opportunity is hot.
Entrepreneurs eager to grab an innovative slice of the $1.5 trillion global wellness pie are racing to embrace the innovative infrared sauna studio concept, launched in 2019 and franchising since mid-June.
“We have sold 30 licenses in the first 30 days,” including Greater Boston and South Florida, says Jamie Weeks, founder and executive chairman of Legacy Franchise Concepts (LFC), the multi-brand health, wellness, and lifestyle platform. Atlanta-based LFC is a partner of Prospect Hill Growth Partners and the franchisor of SweatHouz.
Weeks, formerly a global asset management executive with stints at Morgan Stanley and Barclays, is a familiar face in franchising. As the world’s largest Orangetheory franchisee and one of the biggest franchise owners of Dogtopia, Weeks knows how to spot an opportunity.
He has spent the past two years refining SweatHouz, opening 11 corporate studios—and growing in Georgia, Massachusetts, Oregon, South Carolina, and Texas—with a franchisee-focused operational mindset that ultimately led to a change in strategy.
“I never had a plan to be a franchisor, but the more I looked and thought about it, the more I realized that we are some of the best operators in the franchise world and the industry,” Weeks says. “Combine that with being a good franchisor, and I think it’s a huge advantage.”
And then there’s the SweatHouz concept, primed for the time. The elevated private infrared sauna suite experience, followed by a refreshing Vitamin-C infused shower, has evolved into an all-in-one health and wellness recovery model. Along with the proven scientific and ancient healing benefits of infrared sauna (heart health, immune and metabolism boosting, detoxing, better sleep, accelerated muscle recovery, and more), the studio lineup includes hydromassage and cold water immersion and skin-enhancing red-light therapies.
“Franchisees have a model that we think is sustainable for a very long time and a franchisor that’s operating and doing it all before we give it to the franchisees to make sure they’re going to be successful with it,” Weeks says.
SweatHouz offers recurring revenue, high margins, and bold accessible leadership, including Weeks, who is readily available to hop on the phone to help owners troubleshoot or work through issues. Franchisees can count on best practices in operations, recruiting, training, sales and marketing, and the support of an assigned corporate relationship manager.
“That may not sound like much, but when you are trying to get in touch with different groups in real estate, construction, finance, billing, accounting, marketing, and HR, some people call you back immediately, and some people don’t call you back at all,” Weeks says. “The relationship manager serves as a single point of contact for all things SweatHouz in the home office. These employees are compensated for the success of the franchisee, not the franchisor. If the franchisee does well, the relationship manager makes more money.”
Alongside franchising, SweatHouz looks to open 50 to 100 studios over the next couple of years, with the goal to sell licenses around each corporate location. The right franchise partner will also have the opportunity to buy the corporate studio and develop the surrounding area.
“The franchise owner is going to have a studio up and running, with a team in place that we can use for training and to help them succeed much faster versus building their own in one market and learning it all as they go,” Weeks says. “It will allow that franchisee to be set up for more success. And, as good operators, it’s what we’re supposed to do.”
It’s all part of Weeks’ plan – that didn’t start out as planned—putting SweatHouz and its franchisees on the same plane with a winning blueprint for success as a national brand – built for the future.
