The Golden Bachelorette’s Joan Vassos Spotted On Date With Mystery Man As Concerns Grow (SPOILERS)

Summary

  • Joan Vassos films The Golden Bachelorette at Disneyland with an unknown contestant.
  • The spin-off’s success depends on Joan’s ability to overcome the backlash from The Golden Bachelor.
  • The Golden Bachelor was tarnished after Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist’s divorce.

The Golden Bachelorette lead Joan Vassos was just spotted filming a date with an unknown contestant. She first became a public figure via The Golden Bachelor season 1, which saw Gerry Turner as the very first senior citizen to search for love in the Bachelor franchise. She was one of 22 women competing for Gerry’s heart. Unfortunately, Joan left The Golden Bachelor and returned home when her daughter, who had recently given birth, needed some post-partum help. Gerry eventually proposed to and married Theresa Nist, but their marriage ended after only three months.

Joan is now being given a second chance at finding love on TV, and she recently began filming The Golden Bachelorette season 1 after being announced as the star of the spin-off. According to Reality Steve, she was seen filming a one-on-one date with a mystery man at Disneyland.

The man’s identity is currently unknown. ABC has not officially announced Joan’s cast of suitors just yet. Reality Steve noted in his social media post that, for the sake of comparison, Gerry’s contestants weren’t announced until after filming had completed. If that same standard holds, then the network will probably reveal the Golden Bachelorette cast later on in the summer. The Golden Bachelorette is only in the beginning stages of filming at this point.

Can The Golden Bachelorette Overcome Golden Bachelor Backlash?

Joan Vassos Has Great Opportunity To Correct Recent Issues

In two of the photos Reality Steve shared, Joan and the unknown contestant could be seen sitting on a bench talking to each other, with the famous Disneyland castle behind them and a camera operator capturing their every move in front of them. In another photo, Joan and the man were surrounded by multiple people while the former held what appeared to be a mic pack. In a separate video and photo posted by Reality Steve, Joan wore a blue dress while standing on a Pirates Of The Caribbean balcony.

Filming The Golden Bachelorette at Disneyland makes perfect sense since ABC is owned by Disney; it’s a great opportunity for corporate synergy, after all. The Golden Bachelorette season 1 is also the perfect opportunity for a reset with the Golden spin-offs. The Golden Bachelor received rave reviews when it aired, and Gerry became a fan-favorite in the franchise. Unfortunately, his reputation was tarnished when reports started surfacing about his alleged past; his divorce from Theresa also badly damaged the brand.

Joan can use The Golden Bachelorette to correct Gerry’s mistakes. A lot is riding on her shoulders since she will need to prove that the Golden spin-offs are still worth airing. Also, there is still some trepidation surrounding the casting of Joan as The Golden Bachelorette lead. She will need to demonstrate on national TV that she can handle the pressure that’s coming her way. If she can do all of that, which she’s more than capable of doing, then producers will be vindicated for going ahead with The Golden Bachelorette after Gerry’s issues and for choosing the right lead.
