Today’s Connections Category Hints

AUGUST 22 #437

Mirrors in Connections Categories August 22

To get some help with the categories, you will want to get a few hints that will give you a clue without giving you the answers. Check out these four clues and see if you can work out the categories for yourself:

  • One category has to do with equipment for a specific industry
  • One category you can reach with stairs
  • One category is shortened proper names of a form of media
  • One category is a group of words used to describe a mischievous action

Despite those hints, you might still want some reassurance that you are on the right track. If so, we have some category names listed below to help you out.

Yellow Answers: Revealed & Explained

CLASSIC MOVIE THEATER EQUIPMENT

PROJECTOR

REEL

SCREEN

SPEAKER

While it says “Classic” in the title, the only thing that’s really changed is the REEL itself. Theaters still use PROJECTORs, SCREENs, and SPEAKERs. Despite that, most people would still be familiar with the use of a REEL as a movie theater tool.

Despite this, having REEL, STORY, and POST in the same puzzle does give off false vibes about a possible social media category, but don’t be fooled by that and stick to the instinct that a REEL is a film strip.

TIER

DECK

FLOOR

LEVEL

STORY

Tier feels like an odd way to describe these things, but they are all a tier of something. STORY could be mixed up, as I previously stated, but DECK is the odd one out in a lot of ways. It is a type of flooring, but it feels like it is less of a “LEVEL” and more of something attached to one. That being said, it is the only other word that seems like it might belong, although it’s possible STREAK could in a more video game-like sense.

NEWSPAPER NAMES

GLOBE

MIRROR

POST

SUN

If you are not as familiar with newspaper names, this one might confuse you. They are otherwise completely unrelated, except for GLOBE and SUN perhaps. MIRROR and POST, however, do not seem like they go with those two words at all, and that can make it difficult.

Perhaps if you were able to connect POST to forms of mail delivered it could be a roundabout way of getting back to this category, but more truthfully you probably will not get this one if you do not know a lot of these papers personally.

Purple Answers: Revealed & Explained

PRANK VERBS

EGG

MOON

STREAK

TOILET PAPER

If the past category was confusing because of the specificity, this one seems difficult due to the vagueness. MOON could easily belong with GLOBE and SUN, and the others do not seem to go anywhere. I also take issue with “TOILET PAPER” being considered a verb as no teenager completing this particular prank is going to call it by its full name and it is a noun in this instance. The others will be used as verbs occasionally, but this one is a stretch to connect.
