The categories today are filled with answers waiting to be looted, but before we get to that part here are some hints like clues on a treasure map:

  • One category could be seen on a controller
  • One category is about giving something to a person or cause
  • One category are things you do not want to see on used items for sale
  • One category is not about math

UP

This one had me second-guessing it due to how obvious it seemed. I stared at it for a few minutes, glanced at my PS5 controller, and said it can’t be that easy, right? I was sure that I was being lured into a trick, but I made the guess anyway and found out that sometimes it can be that easy.

It also looks a lot like a cheat code in older video games, even though it is meant to just be directions. It still felt tricky though because other times the categories have looked that easy and it has not been the case.

SUPPORT

SUPPORT and advocate are very similar in meaning, and from there I was able to put together the rest of the category. This is the first one I guessed today because the other one seemed too easy and SUPPORT, ENDORSE, and BACK all went together. CHAMPION had no other words that seemed to lean toward a different meaning, so I picked this one.

CON

STRIKE

In the world of selling used items, these words are all things that would not be great to see. However, sometimes there is a dent or DING sale where you can get otherwise new items for much cheaper which can help get better items on a budget.

CON, MINUS, and STRIKE were less obvious at the outset, but looking at the remaining words these were all the negative types of words that all made sense at the time. Figuring out that much was fortunate because then there was not much left for the last category.

LIAR and CON did, very rightly, tricked me for a short period of time. After I was unable to find any other words to go with them I saw past the con and was able to solve the other categories first, leaving these four words to make up the last category. The homophones part of this category is what makes it more difficult, as it is harder to recognize and my brain still struggles to not correct liar to lyre.
