The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom introduces plenty of fear-inciting enemies that weren’t present in Breath of the Wild. Monsters like the Gleeok and Gloom Hands can make even the most difficult Lynel look harmless, and beating Gloom Hands specifically comes with a difficult second phase against Phantom Ganon that makes defeating them feel worthless. But what makes the sequel so enticing is its many workarounds for even the most difficult enemies.
After playing the game for 1,100 hours, Reddit user Ok-Manufacturer5491 shared their trick for beating difficult enemies easily, which they’ve dubbed the “Auto-Build Technique.” In it, they walk up the Youngest Hinox Brother in the Depths and use the Autobuild feature to spawn a cluster of explosive barrels. After only two attacks, the large monster is officially done for.
The Autobuild feature allows players to save their builds of Zonai devices and other Ultrahand creations to recreate in a pinch. But while many use it to quickly build themselves a vehicle for easy movement or create quick traps for big enemies, it also allows players to spawn a group of explosive barrels in an instant, dealing big damage and taking down difficult monsters in just a couple of hits.
Autobuild Is Great For Taking Down Tough Enemies
Unlocked Through The “A Mystery In The Depths” Quest
The Autobuild feature is found in the Depths by completing the quest “A Mystery in the Depths.” This should automatically unlock by pursuing Robbie and Josha’s “Camera Work in the Depths” quest, urging players to follow the direction the statues scattered throughout the Depths point in. But like most things in Tears of the Kingdom, players don’t have to follow the questline to unlock it, so long as they know where to go.
By navigating to the Great Abandoned Central Mine in the Depths directly, players can bypass a lot of the questline to get the feature quicker. This abandoned mine is located at the coordinates -0781, -1886, -0523. It’s closest to the Nihcayam Lightroot underneath Central Hyrule, and speaking with the Researcher and Steward Construct there will give the player the Autobuild ability.
Autobuild does require the use of Zonaite, which are more easily found among the Depths, if players don’t have the required materials lying nearby. Unfortunately, players who have been avoiding this portion of the map will find exploring the dark passages below Hyrule unearths a lot of helpful tools for their journey. Players have previously used this explosive Autobuild method to take down Gloom Hands in similarly quick fashion (though they’ll still have to face off against Phantom Ganon after).
It’s possible to Fuse more barrels together than what’s shown in the video above, doing more damage; players just have to find enough and Fuse them together for Autobuild to save it.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has a limitless number of ways for players to tackle their least-favorite enemies, and with a little innovation (and a lot of Zonaite), just about every enemy can be defeated with just a couple of shots. Spending the time to farm Zonaite and upgrade Link’s battery pack go a long way to making the rest of the game a breeze – even for players who don’t particularly enjoy combat.
